I may need more than a win on road by 0.1 seconds against a 9-5 team to say it works.

But it sure as hell is fun.

Can we get a team that can make a free throw!!!

That 9-5 team is a lot better than you think.

I had no expectations. Just looking for improvement at a player level and team level. And we're seeing that.

It's not his ideal team, but you can tell they're being coached up. It's working so far. 2-0.

I think you miss the point. On paper we lose by 20 in that game.

So, you expected 12-3 and 2-0 on Jan. 6?

I love the concept and I think it's a fit for us long term but it's going to fail miserably in some games this year imo. High variability even from half to half . Even the coach says so.

Team fights hard .

I guess it depends on what our expectations are going to be for Proof this is gonna work.

By my count we are now like 6-3 vs "good Teams"… which is pretty good. Plus 2-0 in SEC is fantastic

But that bucked goes off 0.1 seconds earlier and all of a sudden we are 5-4 and 1-1…

That's my main point, i just need a couple more games!

Regardless the outcome of this particular game, to me, McMillan has already proven his style will work in the SEC. Now it's just assembling the pieces.

On another note I think McMillan has NBA written all over him. Put another way, I don't think he necessarily leaves for another school so much as an NBA team eventually hires him.

We're now past the proof of concept phase. We're in the MVP and pedal to metal let's see what we can do now phase! Going to be an exciting next few months!

And this should absolutely be the worst team he ever has at A&M. Not saying the players are bad by any means, but I still marvel every game that he was able to put this roster together in the timeframe he had.

Exactly, this board is gonna be melting down when we hit a cold shooting stretch later this year and we can't set up the press well bc shots aren't falling and we get beaten by 30 unexpectedly, but we've definitely already seen enough to say Bucky ball can work. That's two out of two sec games that were turned on their heads by the press and this team definitely has the ability to beat anybody

It's crazy how this team is never too far up to comfortably win (against good teams) and at the same time, is never too far down to come back. The swings are crazy. Makes games exciting....and infuriating at times. Way better than expected at this point. Can't wait to see how good we will be once Bucky has the chance to bring guys in who fit his system better.

That 9-5 team is a lot better than you think.

You are right.

All five of their Ls are Q1 losses. They have played six Q1 games at this point.

ETA: I quickly scrolled through the NET Rankings and have not seen a single team that has played more than that.

FWIW, the bball coach at my son's HS (currently ranked #9 in TX, #1 in Austin area according to MaxPreps) says Bucky is legit, thinks very highly of him.

MAY? Please, this is a six year, magic is going to happen.

'06 - The shot, first NCAA Tournament appearance since forever
'16 - Sweet 16, SEC Champions, Northern Iowa comeback
'26 - ???

The Texas game is almost 20 years to the day of the shot.

I'm intrigued by our early returns, but I don't see this as all. Pressing does not work with regularity in the NBA like college. The athletes are too good in the NBA.

Ok, I'm in. Proof of concept has been proven.

3-0 in SEC and on a day that we didn't even shoot well…

Thinking about it. Mark Pope and all the resources of UK are not looking as good in his year 2 as Buckyball is in year one.

They are doing far better than expected, but given the schedule just unfortunately works out that we have to play all the ranked teams on the road the final W/L may not reflect it as well but it's still a hell of a job given how little time he had to put this team together.

That same 9-5 auburn team is now beating a #15 Arky by 20 with 17min to go

Also, be sure to look at Auburn's home record. They dont' like to lose at home

EDIT: Nevermind! I see you changed your mind

The pacers made it to the finals playing full court defense. The athletes are better claim goes both ways. Full court defense just comes down to positioning and communication

The part about definitely making the tourney next year is a bit presumptuous imo. We are definitely trending to on the bubble this year but next year is going to be highly dependent on what players wer'e able to bring in in the offseason. The 2 incoming fish have good ratings but can you really count on fish? 7 or 8 major contributors on this team are out of eligibility after this season. We have to bring in at least 5-6 significant contributors that fit the system in the portal. I will admit this , given what we were able to bring in on short notice in the portal last offseason does suggest Bucky can get what he needs but it isn't a done deal until it is and they also have to get up to speed in this particular system.

I think depth and roster money, plus the long season is why people are scared to try it in the NBA. It could work, though.
