That's about what I expected on the opening line. We seem to be getting into a little tighter SEC game rotation and hopefully we'll keep getting production across the board. Miss St has a DAWG guard in Hubbard who can create his own shot and shots for his teammates. Hopefully our depth and pressure defense can wear him down as the game progresses.

Just Win!

Every game is stressful until we blow someone out. I'll be happy to win.

Seems like a reasonable line but the over/under strikes me as very low , like 8-10 pts low

What's their pace this season?

. they average almost 80 ppg. They've had a few OT games that bring the average up. I think we'll speed them up because they know they have to keep pace

Curious to see how Hubbard handles our press. I feel like he's got the talent to break it down and initiate their offense, but maybe we wear him down

They're not super fast but their tempo is a little higher than average.

Yeah we need him to have to work as hard as Pack did.

Hubbard has played almost 33 mpg. Granted getting pressed is a different beast.

That'd be an interesting study imo if it hasn't already been done . How many incremental steps per min played do players take playing against a full court press vs not. Would probably suggest you need depth to have relative success vs the press which seems intuitively obvious .

Gotta play extremely fast and force Hubbard into hurried shots

Pack plays 30 mins a game too but he was absolutely exhausted by the end of that game from how hard he was having to work to basically break the press by himself and then move around on offense to get open.

But like Pack, Hubbard is going to get his, what you can't do is get so focused on him you let everyone else heat up.

MSU is usually a mean, bully team in the Jans years. Gonna be physical.

I don't think the number of steps is the critical differentiator. It's the constant pressure, the amount of exertion required under stress, that wears you down at least as much as it is the number of miles you're moving.

It's like in baseball how they talk about pitching in high leverage situations being so much more taxing than pitching with a lead and the bases empty.

Yep

The press makes you work harder and move faster more often than you are used to

Definitely more to it than number of steps
