Well deserved. What's he's done thus far is nothing short of incredible.

If that is in some sort of order, not sure how he gets placed that far down the list. Assume there is is no meaning to the order. From being thought to be the 13th ranked team to being ranked first, at this point he should at minimum be in the top 5 IMO.

Why is this thought always said from Aggies when a coach has one good year. I mean we had the same thought process for Gary Blair, Kevin Sumlin, Jimbo after 2020, RC, G Guerriri. etc.. We get so fired up for just a taste of success that it totally blinds us to bad contracts and loyalty. Let's let the guy get a proven track record before we declare him the next Dean Smith.

Probably because every basketball coach we've had in the last 20 years that didn't have a neurodegenerative disease left us for somewhere perceived as "better."

Edit to add that we were probably more than happy to let Buzz walk but that's still the perception.

I hope all of our coaches are here for 30 years. It would mean they're winning a lot.

Not really. We let the soccer coach stay that long and he didn't win big and let the program become blah. While I loved Gary Blair he stayed too long and ran the program down, RC stayed too long, Laurie Corbelli, Jo Evans, Mark Johnson, and Rob Childress are all coaches we let stay too long and their programs all became also rans and stagnant. Other than Blair none of them won big especially consistently

It's a different era now. Plus, Gary Blair earned the right to coach here as long as he wanted. In today's NIL/transfer portal world - and given the fact the A&M athletic department is no longer run by good-ol'-boy athletic directors like Wally Groff - coaches will only be kept around for a long time if they're winning. We've recently fired Sumlin, Fisher, and the VB coach before Morrison (can't remember her name) for underperforming. Joni Taylor is about to face the same fate. With the SEC dollars we have now, we can drop coaches who aren't cutting it. We'll only keep coaches for a long time if a.) they're winning a lot or b.) they've done something to earn a lifetime contract.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

"I hope this coach is here for next 30 years" does not mean "I hope we give this coach a ridiculous contract that hamstrings our athletic department budget if the coach does not work out and we have to fire them."
