Heartbreak… yet it's still beating. A pulse is still there as our season marches on. The postseason is still in sight and we still control our own destiny. Unfortunately destiny is like that girl you meet in your first week of college, she plays hard to get. Tonight presents a big challenge in Kentucky but it's presents a big opportunity to get this thing back on track.
We gotta do something to get this offense going again and make some three's. We've kept up with Tennessee, we've kept up with Bama and could have easily won both. We have what it takes to compete with and beat Kentucky. Why can't today be the day we find our 3 point shooting or that we turn teams over. We have what it takes, we just have to find it again.
Kentucky is still its talented self. They are quick, they are tall, they can compete with anybody in the country. However, they can drop a game to almost anybody. Kentucky has battled injuries and lineup changes, but they've settled in. They are led by the backcourt trio of Otega Oweh, Collin Chandler, and Denzel Aberdeen who average 17, 13, 10. They inserted 6'11 big man Andrija Jelovic into the starting lineup to pair with 7'0 Malachi Moreno. However off the bench, forward Mouhamed Diaboute comes in and will most likely play more minutes against us due to his versatility.
A big key to take down Kentucky is to force them into bad hurried up shots. They are strong in the paint and I'm the mid range but we need to force them into tough 3's. One thing we can't do is turn the ball over or Kentucky will run wild. This starts with taking care of the ball, taking smart shots and of course making said shots. We can't give them easy rebounds and we have to get back on defense. They want to push the pace and with their athleticism they will get down the court if we miss an assignment or over pursue recklessly.
We have to get our offense flowing at a much more consistent rate. The lulls feel much more common as the bad shots are much more frequent. We're struggling in the paint and from behind the arc. Let's get this offense going tonight. We've often discussed how our fast pace quick slashing or 3 point shooting offense would fare against a bigger more talented team.
It hasn't gone our way in some big games yet, but tonight feels like the perfect night to get our signature win. Let's get this back on track and BTHO kentucky!! My calendar reads March and we are still alive. The box with our dancing shoes is out for the big dance. How about we get this win so we can get to the dance!!
