Aggies -2.5
Total is 163.5

Day One of the SEC tournament is in the books. Oklahoma played great the last 25 minutes after looking awful to start the game tonight vs SC. The Aggies have the benefit of having a first round bye, however it's tough to wait to play the last game of the night. We've beaten OU twice so let's get one more in Nashville. There will be Lots of rest for the boys on Thursday and establish sometype of routine with a similar schedule on Friday if we advance.

There were a few Aggies enjoying the games today and hopefully the rest will be in our session tomorrow.

Let's take care of business Thursday night.

Won 5 in a row since their loss to the Aggies, good for them but too little too late unless they win the tourney. It was unbelievable how many leads they blew in last 5 minutes of games for much of the season.

They're a good team, regardless of their record.

And I hate that we have to try and beat a good team three times in one year.

I'm not saying we'll win tonight but fatigue could be a factor for OU. We wore them down late in the game both times if memory serves.

There's an argument to be made for eliminating the byes in the conference tourneys for that reason imo

With 16 teams In The league now, there's no reason for byes

There was at 14 or 12 teams but not at 16

The only thing I can think of is the second wants to protect its better teams from having to play more games before the ncaa tournament

As it stands now, the 4 teams with double byes only have to play 3 games to win it

In a 16 team format with no byes, they'd need to play 4

Agree from the point of efficiency - but those byes (and double byes) do provide a bit of a prize and incentive to play hard to earn some rest.

Also - the current format allows 4 games per day for the first three days of the tournament, whereas your suggestion makes day 1 require 8 games, unless you provide two days to play those first round games.

Add one day to the SEC tourney.

I get the incentive argument to earn the byes but the top teams are the top teams for a reason so why give them even more of an advantage with fewer games and more rest. Stacked deck.

There is plenty of incentive already for reg season conference play. Every team is trying to win every game to improve their Big Dance Resume' and seeding.

Yeah, the tv angle is another thing to consider, and probably the biggest reason of all for the current format
