Agree with milner79 that the fan site is difficult to navigate because of ads and pop-ups. If you persevere, there is some pretty good basketball talk. A guy with a user name of "Naph" apparently is their "resident guru." He breaks down our team and suggests a reasonable strategy against us. I tried to cut and paste but gave up because of the incessant pop-ups.

If I'm glass half empty then:But the more I look at recent form, the more I like it for the Gaels.
- Clemence is the kind of stretchy big man that can give our C's problems.
- Agee's a mobile big that can do a bit of everything and might be able to cover Murauskas.
- They have a bunch of experienced guards and they could out-savvy our younger guys. Its gonna get ugly if Dent gets an early foul and then get's pinged for a charge, or a push-off or something.
- Alternatively they have a lot of depth at guard and foul a lot, so they might just club and maul our guards until they wear down.
- When they're on, they can really shoot, and that always gives them a shooter's chance.
Clemence had 29p on 11/14 shooting against Arkansas. But, he's also 7/25 (3P:4/16) from the field as a starter in the last 3 games and he's averaging 6.5 fouls per 40 minutes for TAMU.
Griffen has impressive averages. But he's a high variance player. His game scores since Feb are:
14.5 - 5.0 - 11.4 - 1.0 - 3.1 - 15.2 - 3.8 - 3.2 - 19.0 - 22.5 - 7.1
Hill is 5/17 in his last 3 games and is barely even attempting 3's since mid-Feb.
Dominguez's shot has been sketchy all of Feb & Mar except for the game against Kentucky. He's been unplayable of late posting negative game scores in 4 of the last 11. He's topped 4.0 game score just twice in that 11 game stretch. He's one of their taller guys at 6-6, but is possibly their worst defender and second worst rebounder. If his shot is not dropping, he's not giving you much.
Isaacs has been playing well of late. 3 of his 6 starts for the season are the last 3 games. Won't surprise me if he starts for form, and Clemence starts for matchup reasons.
Lane has the profile of a guy who is banged up or severely out of form. He started, but often played under 20 minutes, in non-con. Was leaned on heavily in conference play. But has just 16p-10a in his last 7 games combined. Has not started the last 2 games and totaled just 18 minutes in their last 3 games.
Dibba has played more of late. Is also an up-and-down kind of player. 12 of his 36 steals on the season have come in the last 4 games.
Holloway is a minor role-player who can defend and pass a bit.
Vinson hardly plays. Federiko has played a little more of late, but has been bad in the opportunities he's had. Those are their only big options behind Clemence/Agee. If either are in the game things aren't going well for the Aggies.
They're 329th in fouls, and are playing the #1 FT% team in the nation. They can afford fouls on their multiple guards, but not on either Agee or Clemence.
They are 328th in opponent offensive rebounds. So you're bad at giving up offensive rebounds normally, and now you're playing the Gaels. Good luck if you don't box out. The only thing I'm worried about here is that just about their only way of stopping the Gaels on the glass will be drawing fouls. I'd expect a lot of their guards tangling up our bigs and acting aggrieved. Bigs just need to get position and go straight up.

They're really old (Agee first redshirted in 19/20!), but its a classic NIL-era team. Not a single rotation player was on their roster last year.
Dominguez & Vinson are Sophs, Holloway a Junior. Everyone else is in at least their 4th year, several in their 4th after also playing JuCo at some point.

Someone get on there and set them straight. This isn't a mere "rental team." It's a miracle.

Bennett is a really good coach but he turns 64 in June so who knows what he might do. He's from Mesa, Arizona where I live and there's talk he might look at Arizona State.

I don't think this guy realizes that there weren't any players left on the team when Bucky got here. What would he have liked us to do, not field a team?

Anybody else failing to see how "Bucky Ball" is any different than Gonzaga trying to press you into oblivion and force track meet tempo?
With the exception being, Gonzaga AND Santa Clara execute it better than TAMU?
Quote:
One quick answer is that they don't have the flawless execution typical of Few's teams. Texas A&M plays like a team of misfit parts, Gonzaga is a well-oiled machine.
Quote:
That's what I'm saying too, Alameda. It's a squad of paid mercenaries, trying to get theirs, and besides Gonzaga does it WAY better.
As draws go, this isn't a game plan or team that the Gaels won't see coming.
