That's been the entire downfall of buckyball. When it works it works, but when you aren't on, it's ugly
I understand, you see what you saw in today's game.
You saw an undersized team play a top 10 team that had young and older players meshed together, in a system where Kelvin Sampson has been coaching for the past 12 years (seventh straight Sweet 16 appearances) -- this is similar to when we played Florida this year too. Our tallest contributing 4 or 5, is 6' 6"????, having to post up and attempt to outrebound 6' 9" to 7' +" posts. Again, excuses, excuses, excuses....
Having that type of the height advantage, gives you the ability to "out physical" the opposing team, with refs letting it happen as it only looks "natural."
Let's see what happens with Bucky's recruiting and what TAMU basketball looks like in year 3. I would say year 2, but again Bucky didn't get to TAMU until late, with just a small bucket of current year (25-26) recruits (yet we picked up some awesome DUDES that made this team) to choose/recruit from, and most of the recruits this year recruiting class (26-27), already had their decisions weighted somewhat toward certain schools/coaches and styles of play. There hasn't been a full season of players/recruits watching this style of play--Bucky Ball.
Yet, I believe Bucky did get two pretty decent high school recruits this year.
HOWEVER, as is being displayed in football and basketball, NIL is making an impact as to WHO goes WHERE. Let's see what happens between now and the start next season regarding transfers.
I've noted this before, if you're talented (especially a 4 or a 5 with some size), and believe you're not getting the playing time at your current school, realizing if you go to TAMU, willing to bust it every time you're on the court, and can play, you'll get your chance to score 15 to 25 points every night and position yourself to go to the next level.
If you're a shooter and not happy, Bucky is going to contact you, and now TAMU's style of play has been on display--though you personally probably see it from a negative viewpoint as we were undersized. I believe Bucky "the recruiter," will have a definite positive, and very realistic spin when recruiting.
I've made the following comment "yet we picked up some awesome DUDES that made this team" what it truly is--AN OVER ACHIEVING GROUP OF SOLID DUDES AND TEAM. And to this team, you guys BALLED OUT--ALL OF YOU WERE DAWGS THE ENTIRE YEAR. Proud of all of you. You did something NOBODY even dreamed would happen.
For anyone dogging and *****ing about you after this game--$CR3W THEM!!! They don't matter.
