Guards: Pop Isaacs, Ruben Dominguez, Josh Holloway, Jeremiah Green, Neiko Munday, Noah Shelby

Forwards: Mackenzie Mgbako, Zach Clemence, Jamie Vinson, Chris McDermott, Joshua Irving

Portal Needs:
- "3 and D" Guard shooting over 40% from 3

- taller guard (6'5+) that can shoot the 3 and rebound

Sweet 16 or bust

*Marcus Hill is awaiting a decision on an extra year of eligibility

What else should we go after in the portal

Length and athleticism across the board and I would look to add two guards that can come in and start and take games over

Many have said they believe today was the last game as an Aggie for Pop. I tend to agree. We can do better in the portal.

People saying that are clueless… Pop's a stoic guy! Sorry he isn't smiling jumping up and down the entire game. That's his persona. The dude is happy here and began the year injured. He didn't have an off-season, he's slowly gotten better throughout the year and he will be running the offense for a top 25 team here next year

Also Marcus Hill is going to be requesting a waiver for an extra year of eligibilty due to him playing at the JUCO level… same issue as Rashaun Agee where he got approved! Let's hope for the same result! Would be excellent for our back court

What's understated is how much better Pop was on defense also. Bucky talked about it in the pregame presser. What also impressed me these past two games is the level of intensity Dominguez was playing on defense… was night and day compared to early in the year. It was year 1 in this system, there will be much more familiarity defending full court in year 2 as well

relative to A&M last year's team, this year's team is not as talented

we just need to improve our talent level across the board.

Is McDermott really that bad?

Both had the same result… except one team was playing together for 4 years and seemingly underachieved and the other was thrown together later because there was nobody left on the roster wel into the portal window.

The talent will come

I might be wrong, but I think it was Luke Evangelist that said Pop might look to leave this offseason. Luke is pretty plugged in. But honestly, since that was said, Pop has had a much larger role with the team.

Honestly Mgbako is the only guy from this team I would lose sleep over if they left. The three guys I don't want to lose are Mgbako, Clemence, and Holloway (I keep thinking Holloway is ultimately going to figure it out)

All I know is all the portal adds Bucky brought in last offseason was like Christmas morning on repeat

I'll be shocked if we don't bring in some big surprises

I hope so

talent level Bucky constructed year one is limited understandably

looking at our peer/foe this year sips have better talent and may be even ou?

I hate that sips advance to s16.

I also wonder a whole off-season would look like for Ruben Dominguez… what more could he add to his game! Maybe a little more quickness and physicality

it's a fun up tempo system which should attract a lot of volume shooters! Here's hoping we add a couple big names

Based on today - against a truly athletic team, what makes you think any guards we have are what we need to really compete? If you want middling the SEC snd one and done fine. But we need an overhaul of athleticism with Buckey ball. Think Arkansas. UH. Zona. Until the we will run inferior teams out of the gym and fold against top 10 talent.

Tamper with every team that's got an elite defender who can also shoot a great 3 ball.

Well duh. So why yall talking about keeping Pop, Ruben, etc. We know who they are against top talent. Look at the last 10 games. Not much. So yall want a 9-9 SEC team and one and one or overhaul to competed for championships? I'm confused.

What makes you think that's not the plan? You think this team that was constructed literally last second was full of schematic fits and ideal athletes?

The fact that Bucky pulled this group in, finsihed top half of the SEC, and made the tournament in YEAR 1, should leave you foaming at the mouth for what's possible when he's an established coach with a full offseason to improve the team.

as much as I enjoyed the current teams success this year, talent disparity between A&M vs Arkansas, FL, even sips are wide...it's a wonder we won at Austin. hope Bucky get truly phenomenal freshman talent to propel us in the future.

Reality is if we're wanting to compete on a national level, then much of this roster needs to get turned over next year or a lot of players accepting role-player type positions.

These guys aren't freshmen, they aren't going to take big leaps next year.

Sucks that is the NIL-world we live in, but if we roll out a similar roster next year then we're going to wind up with similar results and get outclassed in Round 2.

Historically that's not really that bad for A&M, but we're in a window where the amount of money we spend directly correlates with national success, so if we have it and we're serious about winning, then a lot of these guys won't be here next year.

It's all about the draw they got past nc st then got to play two teams missing their second best players. If they'd drawn UH they'd got it shoved in dry as well.

Proposition Joe you are spot on. I am sue people are saying well we need to retain Clemence, Vinson, Spaniard, Pop etc...

On good teams these guys are way down the bench or in some cases probably not even on a the team. Just like in football we need a couple of players that are NBA guys. When we last won in 2016 we had 2 guys that were NBA guys. and several that played in the G league and overseas

I don't think Money would make it through conditioning much less playing defense is what Bucky requires.

Dominguez and Clemence have really high upside. Vinson, he is a role guy. But in fairness he was on this team. Just fed really underperformed and vinson got thrown into the mix more at the end.

I mean, I hate the era we're in but it's an era where being a school flush with $$$ is a great spot to be.

I long for the days of 4 year players growing with the program. But we're not even in the same era as 2022 where you had a lot of multi-year guys.

You roll Pop, Clemence and Dominguez back out there next year with major minutes and Houston with a reloaded squad beats us by 20. Those guys aren't suddenly going to take major strides.

It'd be a team capable of making the tourney, but not a real contender for a title.

The one I may disagree with is Pop. He has had great numbers in the past and didn't get an offseason as he was coming off injury. Also am I misremembering or didn't we beat him out over UH for his services?

Rueben will be a role player 3 point shooter here or wherever for sure. Can't rely on him for a ton of minutes.

What Bucky wants and will get!
6'6" - 6'10" guards forwards who are athletic.
Start looking here and who fits the system. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/stats/player

All three of these guys look different with a stud scoring guard and more beef on the Frontline to support them. I think they each could be a significant part of a championship team.
Proposition Joe

Sure they have attributes that make them good players that could be made even better with elite distributors -- I mean, this team DID make the NCAA Tourney this year so they weren't a bunch of scrubs.

But what I saw yesterday was a team top to bottom that had no ability to produce against Houston's defense. Our guards couldn't get to the rim and if they could they were amongst the trees. What I thought might be our one real shot at the upset -- getting hot from 3 -- was completely neutered by how quickly they closed out on perimeter D. It wasn't that we weren't hitting from long-range -- we weren't even getting looks from long range.

The bulk of our half-court possessions were aimless... that was the case for much of the year (and not all that uncommon under Bucky Ball). But in transition we didn't have guys elite enough to finish at the rim against elite defenses.

We saw it with Florida too.

We played two true title contenders this year - Florida and Houston - and we could play them 20 more times and would lose 20 more times. There's going to be teams like that every single year, are we going to up our NIL/roster to truly compete with them?
