for all you new SEC posters, give us a rundown about your school, what we should expect when travelling to road games, sacred traditions, etc!

Haven't you noticed that every tread is a bunch of Aggies going back and forth in a circle jerk?

i thought this was a designated SEC 'discussion' forum, as some people have pointed out...unfortunately doesn't seem like the case

this is tough to watch.

kinda the point of ttting. nobody is going to come over here and 'discuss' sec sports

Once football season starts other school's posters will start finding their way over here. Before you know it, some of them will become regulars around here.

Their first stop will be the zoo. Then here. Then back to the zoo when they see the difference. Matters not, since I'll be in both places at the same time.

Mississippi State grad here. Starkville is essentially what College Station was about 30 years ago. However, it has been growing like crazy the last few years and there is a renewed excitement around Starkville since we replaced our AD a few years back. Coach Mullen has our fanbase extremely optimistic about the next several years. You'll find our fans to be very friendly, the girls are extremely hot, alot of them dress up for games, so that is good eye candy. Come tailgate in the "Junction" before the game. It is awesome. It wasn't there when I was at State in the late 90's, but it is really a great set up for tailgating. As far as traditions go, we have the Cowbells and our Mascot is Bully, the Bulldog. I think ours is better than UGA's but I'm biased. When you come in town, go to the Cotton District and Main St for bars and restaurants. Christy's has the best greasy burger you've ever seen. Lil' Dooey's is legendary for BBQ. Drive to Ackerman, MS (about 30 minutes away) to Pap's Place for all you can eat Catfish if you have time, it is ridiculous. And if you want nicer restaurants, there have been several new ones open up over the last few years that are really good. We call Ole Piss TSUN, (The School up North). Ole Piss fans are essentially like t-sips...entitled tit babies who haven't done a damn thing but act like they own the world. Fly to Jackson and rent a car, it is a pretty 2 hour drive through the rolling hills of NE MS. Flights are cheap to Jackson. Hotels in Starkville are a ***** to find during Gameday weekends, so plan accordingly.

i'm pretty sure they all have tigers as their mascots. except for alabama who pretty much uses everything as its mascot. that rock? mascot. that old man sleeping on a bench? mascot.

Another MSU grad here. I was there from '96-'04 (did both undergrad and grad school). Jackie Sherrill was the head coach for most of my time there. MSU football has had quite some highs and lows, but I think you will find that we are some of the most loyal fans out there.

If you visit campus, be sure to get some MSU cheese and MSU ice cream. They sell both on campus, and it's great! Bulldog Deli was another good local place to eat. Tailgating on campus is tons of fun, and I think you will find the MSU fans to be very welcoming.

We do hate Ole Miss...no matter who we are playing, after we sing the Star Spangled Banner, we yell "Go to He!! Ole Miss." It's just tradition. We do love our cowbells, and we have one of the biggest/best jumbo trons in the country. Not bad for a "cow college" (that's what TSUN calls us).
