They pretend they sold out JerryWorld last year too, but they didn't.

They don't travel as well as they like to pretend.

We still had more fans than the Aggies at JerryWorld.

Maybe a lot of our fans are bored with beating you, so most fans would just rather wait for the return trip next year in Fayetteville...

I'm still thinking about coming to CS, though. I haven't decided yet. Depends on a few things atm.

Yea, that's it you knew you'd win and didn't show up. When tickets were on sell A&M was Top 10 and favored in the game. We then built up an 18 point lead. All the while you knew you were going to win.

Why are you *****ing about us not selling out Jerryworld? The game is in your state.

We still brought more fans than A&M, which is kinda sad, really.

Am I doing ok with this?

We've been trying to give Dallas to Oklahoma for years. Would y'all like it?

Dallas isn't Texas. They have hockey for ****s sake.

Well, I don't particularly care for Houston or Dallas. Fun to visit a couple of times a year. I go to Dallas every couple of months, but these days I rarely make it south of GBT.

Do you have the numbers for the fans brought? I know last year you guys out-drew us by <1000 according to a Bill Byrne weekly wednesday. The previous two years we got you.

quote:
Carole doesn't have Arkansas numbers and we aren't authorized to release sale numbers for that game. Has to come through as a request via SID office and be approved by the Athletic Department. They want to be the only ones releasing numbers. New guy may change that but that's the current stance.

We outsold Arkansas in year 1. By a long shot. Even in year 2. I couldn't even anecdotally tell you about 3.

How can you know for sure who had more fans at Jerryworld? Just curious. I could see the numbers sold through the university ticket office being well documented and in Arky's favor but couldn't people also order directly from Jerryworld?

I agree A&M had more fans in 2009. 2010 I thought we had a slight edge.

Last year, I thought it wasn't even close as far as Arkansas having more fans there. I went to the game all three years.

I honestly think if we hadn't already been playing A&M for the past 3 years, more fans would be coming down to the game in CS to check it out.

There will still be a lot of us there. I'll probably go, but as of now I haven't bought my tickets.

Jerry World sucks. First and second year was a novelty with few returnees at inflated prices for the third year.

If we had been coming off a BCS game appearance or a 10 win season as was Arkansas, we would have easily sold out our tickets at JerryWorld. I think a lot of people were playing wait and see from the week before vs osu.

Year one I bought four club seats $1200 plus parking hotel food and drinks. $2000 trip and I drove. Next year cut to two tickets. Third year saved my money. $300 a ticket is just nuts for college games.
wmr
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Agreed. $300 per is dumb. I like the split stadium, though.

I'll say it was nice to have as a short "away game" trip every year. I think A&M might like the idea a little more once y'all accept the reality of how far away all of your conference games are in the SEC.

I mostly viewed it as a chance to go to a road game without too much hassle. I guess Mizzou will fill that role for us moving forward.

If the ticket prices can be made reasonable, say 200 and down to 60, I'm all for the JerryWorld game. I thought it was a good party.

The truth is that Jerryworld is a terrible place to watch a football game.

wmr, it's all about money. We would like a game in Dallas every year (ideally non-conf) but it just wasn't making the expected payout.

And the roadtrips arent much farther in the SEC than Big12. Especially when only playing 1 away game against an East team each year
wmr
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Baylor, Texas and OU were all closer than your closest conference road game in the SEC. I doubt many of your fans will be making the eastern trips anyway. Few of ours do.

I realize a lot of fans live in different parts of the state, and its a big state, so I am speaking generally.

Your DFW fans (they exist) were 3.5 hours from OU and a little further to OSU.

Sure there are fans who will make several road games, but I think the typical fans who maybe like to make one or two close road games will miss being able to drive a few hours for a game.

That is one explanation for why, in spite of the high prices, our fans turned out pretty well for the JerryWorld game. We don't get the chance to do that very often. Oxford is 6 hours away from Fayetteville. Its a well-attended game by fans in central or Eastern Arkansas, though.

Because going to OU and OSU = going to Ole Miss, Bama, Florida, etc.

Apples and oranges, my friend.
wmr
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Meh. I know you are excited, but going to Oxford is still just going to a little town in Mississippi. Granted, its a nice small town in Mississippi, but you'll get over it soon enough.

The main point is 3-4 hour drives vs 9-10 hour drives. Some will fly, but the avg fan won't.

I'm just speaking from experience of comparing having road games within 5 hours in Texas from NWA vs having most of the road games being 6+ hours away.

Well for Houston, Fayettville and Baton Rouge together are closer than Norman and Stillwater. Nobody wanted to go to Baylor except for the businesses in Waco. We will be playing tu again once Deloss retires. Lubbock is 9 hours.

The biggest difference is the SEC games are worth going to. The only Big 12 gamedays that are noteworthy were Texas and Nebraska, all the rest are snoozers compared to the SEC or even something like Clemson.

Most Ags will go to a game or two per year. I agree Starkvegas is not that great but at least they have a spirited fanbase and some character, the rest of the SEC West varies from very good to outstanding road venues. We will likely also keep our OOC road venues close to home with games in DFW and Houston regularly. Really you are talking about 4 games a year to travel a distance to (with LSU not being that far, esp from Houston). Pick one or two and make it a real trip is the plan for most Ags. I personally will be thrilled never to have to make another trip to Waco, Lubbock, Stillwater, Manhattan, Ames, or Lawrence.

Mizzou isn't that great but at least they have potential to get better. KY is probably the only SEC football venue I don't care about (Vandy sucks but Nashville is a great town for a weekend trip).

I sat on the Arkansas side last year, and there was quite a few Ags sprinkled in... have my doubts the A&M side was like that. Arky people are great though, I had a blast on their side.
wmr

Its actually been pretty friendly as far as fanbases go.

I had an older guy Aggie fan walk by our tailgate last year and say something that I think was meant to be mean, while his wife looked at us like "I'm sorry, he's drunk."

Other than that, all three years were good-natured fun in my experience.

I compare that to LSU-Arkansas, which gets nasty for both fanbases, both venues. There's a tension with Ole Miss, too.

Auburn and Alabama we seem to have no problems with at all, in spite of some heated match-ups recently.

The tailgating at the Jerryworld games has been very friendly. Heck even the LSU Cottonbowl was friendly imho. Jerryworld just makes everything sterile.
wmr

Maybe the ticket prices keep the less-friendly people away.
