We are hanging over 1 million lights for our third annual Lights of Tejas. The event is open on 20 evenings from November 24 to December 23.
Camp Tejas is a Christian Camp and Retreat Center just south of Giddings and north of La Grange on U.S. Hwy. 77. During the summer months, the camp is full of children and youth enjoying multiple sessions of summer camp. In the fall and spring, the camp functions as a retreat center and guests usually stay over the weekends.
The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas has been dedicated to the Lights of Tejas. The highlight this year will be light shows at two different venues. At one location, Christmas tree lights will dance to Christmas music. At the other, over 200,000 lights will be orchestrated to music and Scripture narration explaining the purpose of Jesus.
One of the other anticipated features of the event is the food. There will be plenty of options available for a full dinner or just a fun holiday snack. A variety of items will be on the menu such as Mexican food, pancakes, hamburgers, and mini-donuts. Open outdoor fires will be available for hotdogs and s’mores.
Other activities will include hayrides, a 50' climbing wall with four zip lines, inflatables, a light maze, and face painting.
Admission prices are $8 per adult (13 and up) and $4 for children (3 to 12). Upon admission, each person will also receive $2 in LOT cash tickets which can be used as cash for any additional purchases at the Lights of Tejas. Some of us stayed in one of the cabins and thought it was wonderful to go to sleep with the canopy of lights next to us and lights even on our porch! We loved the hayride, the maze, the light show, face painting, bungee jumping and the zip line. Breakfast was sensational, great food and the Christmas trees flashing in time to the music. So many outstanding photo ops all weekend! Thank you so much, we would love to make this a tradition.
