So to piggy back Clay Travis' article on "Dream Schedules", if you had unlimited funds, which games would you attend in person this year? Let's expand this to all of college football. Here's a link to the entire college football schedule. Take your time, and remember you get one game a week and two for Thanksgiving week.
For some reason I thought this would be easy, but it actually starts pretty hard. [fify protected]
1.) Wow, I really want to see Alabama smother Michigan in person, but how often do you get to travel overseas to see a college game? There are some interesting games that week; Alabama/Michigan, Marshall/WVU (couch burning), Clemson/Auburn, Tenn/NCState, GaTech/VaTech. I'm sorta leaning to the Navy vs Notre Dame game in Dublin, Ireland as my first week pick. Is it going to be a great game? Who knows with that ND squad, but the trip should be memorable.
2.) No question about it, best game on the schedule, Florida at Kyle Field. Easy as pie.
3.) There are a couple that look good based on location. Texas at Ole Miss, BYU at Utah, USC at Stanford and lastly, and not here due to location, Alabama at Arkansas. It will be early in the season, these two teams will be loaded for bear, and it's not late enough to ski so I'm heading to Arkansas to drink.
4.) Hey Maggie, it's late September I really should be back at school. And I want to see how the ACC is going to shape up and so Clemson at FSU seems to be a hot spot in week 4. Other notable games included LSU/Auburn, Cal/USC, and Mich/ND.
5.) First thing in my mind is, how many points will WVU put up on Baylor in Morgantown, and how many freaked out Wacko's will be in attendance? Out of curiosity that makes the list but won't make the cut. This is also the week of the Texas Showdowns including TCU/SMU and Houston/Rice, but those happen every year and don't really mean much. That is why I'm looking at Texas at OSU or Wisc at Nebraska. The Texas game is interesting cause it warms up the Texas D against an actual offense. The next week they get WVU at home. However OSU is breaking in a new offensive unit almost and this might be a dud of a game. I would be at the Wisc/NU game. Friendly folks who share a hate for Texas and could be a rematch later down the road for the B1G title.
6.) Good games on the schedule you have WVU/Texas, Auburn/Arkansas, LSU/Florida, Neb/tOSU. The game which means the most I think will be Georgia at South Carolina. There's going to be good food, drink and people watching there. Plus it's early October and the air will be crisp for some local golf as well.
7.) While it will be a rude awakening for Texas Tech with WVU in town, I never want to step foot in that city again. The RRR isn't what it used to be, and that's why I would be singing Hotty Toddy in The Grove when Auburn visits Ole Miss.
8.) The hottest ticket outside of LSU/Alabama and USC/Oregon. If I had my way, I'd be there at Kyle Field when LSU comes to town. Move over Believers Bowl (BYU/ND), Texas Trash (tu/BU), Big Boring (Michigan/MichState) and SEC East (USCar/Florida).
9.) I'm actually going to the NCState/UNC game that weekend, but wouldn't it be nice to go to the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party? Ya it would, UGA/UF it is.
10.) Well damn, it just so happens Oregon/USCal is the same weekend as Alabama/LSU. So it boils down to this, would you rather see a game at USCal or LSU? Honestly, I'd rather see the PAC12 showdown in Oregon instead of USCal, and there's a good possibility they will replay this game, in USCal as well, for the PAC12 title, so I'll pass. LSU at night against Alabama ought to be a hell of a game.
11.) Crap, I'm already going to be at the A&M/Alabama game, but there really aren't to die for games out there. The SEC looks competitive with USCar/Ark, LSU/MSU, UGA/Auburn but I think Missouri at Tennessee might be a good game. I've never been to Neyland Stadium and it could be worth something if Missouri is coming in with a good record.
12.) NCState at Clemson might be interesting, but instead I'll do a quick in and out for the OU at WVU game. You really don't want to stay in West Virginia for any length of time unless it's Snowshoe, which I recommend after a good solid snow storm. This might decide the Big12 champion.
13.) It's Rivalry Week and it looks like we have a new dance partner. Is it back to Arkansas for the LSU game; been there once this season and no need to return. Nope, T-day will be Utah at Colorado and I'm hoping for early snow. Then I'll fly back for the Iron Bowl, Auburn at Alabama. Sorry Oklahoma but you just lost to WVU last week and are out of the hunt for the title and OSU aren't what they used to be.
14.) Championship Week, so if USCal and Oregon are playing, I'd be there. If not, then it's the SEC Championship game. OU/TCU looks fun, but not really.
15.) Army vs Navy to cap it all off.
For the lazy tl;dr crowd...
1. Navy vs Notre Dame in Dublin, Ireland
2. Florida at A&M
3. Alabama at Arkansas
4. Clemson at Florida State
5. Wisconsin at Nebraska
6. Georgia at South Carolina
7. Auburn at Ole Miss
8. LSU at A&M
9. Georgia vs Florida, Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party
10. Alabama at LSU at night
11. Missouri at Tennessee
12. Oklahoma at West Virginia, not staying the night
13. Auburn at Alabama, Iron Bowl
14. Oregon vs Southern Cal if they are in the PAC12 Championship game, if not the SEC Championship game.
15. Army vs. Navy, Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
