Guys,

First off, welcome to the SEC! My name is Eric SanInocencio, and I'm the SEC's Digital Media Director and content leader for www.secdigitalnetwork.com.

I know quite of few of you have visited the website since the Aggies' officially joined the family, and I thank you for that.

The purpose of this thread is for this group to make suggestions on what you like, don't like and what we can do better for you the fan.

We don't pretend to know everything, and hope to use this as a sounding board for any ideas you'd like to see us do on either our website or SEC social media platforms.

I promise, all suggestions will be read by me personally. Also, any questions about the website can be added as well, and I'll try to answer them.

Thanks for your time. #SECFamily

You do good work. I think most of us are just trying to soak in how much better the website is than what we had in the Big 12.

I'm interested in the video content once the season starts.

We do quite a bit of video content, so stay tuned. We have an SEC "Gameday Central" page, that has highlights from every game along with other preview materials. We usually make it the home page of the SEC website on Saturdays.

Another for the site - it really is amazing.

What kind of content do you provide through the week of the game? I would like to see analysis on the two schools, and since it is our first time around, if there are any key traditions from each school that could be discussed.

Interviews with coaches, current and former players, sports analysts (espn, nbc, etc.) would also be nice to see. We get a lot of info about A&M from here, and TexAgs does a good job of engaging the opposing school and trying to get radio hosts to join, etc. but additional interactions from the opponent would be nice to see as well.

To be honest, I think the content you provide, the quality of the site, the speeds and capacity of the video are all so much better than anything we are used to, it's hard to think of anything more we could ask for at this point...but that will change by next year and once we are used to it, TexAgs has a way of complaining about even the most positive of news, so stay tuned!

Thanks for the message, the interview this morning and the overall engagement from the SEC Eric - we are very excited to be joining such a classy and well run establishment! The best in the biz!!

Gig'em and God Bless!

one more suggestion - not sure if how it would be done, but I think affiliating yourself with the top fan websites per school would do wonders for your traffic.

If I log into TexAgs and see links to some of the content at SECDigitalNetwork,I am much more likely to go over there and check it out than if I was just remembering to go look...anyway, just a thought

OKG2000,

Thanks for the note. Starting this year (I guess this is breaking, not sure if we announced it publicly yet), we will have former legendary Georgia coach Vince Dooley streaming a live preview show on the website once in a week.

I'm not sure of the format of that show yet, but it will be a comprehensive look at the weekend's games. As for written content, I do a Monday "Three and Out" column recapping the weekend on, you guessed it, Mondays.

The SEC media relations staff does a full football release and stats update, so that will have some information you are looking for as well. While it is not ready for prime time now, I suggest you bookmark the link below.

OKG2000,

As far as linking with the top forum sites, this might be the best I can do. I have tried to reach out a few places (here, SECRant.com) to try and open up lines of communication with our fans. We do have an SEC "Affiliate" program, but as of right now that is only for media websites. Your concern is valid though, and I will keep trying to make the connection to fans easier to find. Good point.

I am not on the website so much yet. I use the SEC Digital App via my Samsung DVD/blue ray player. The navigation isn't horrible but I think it could be smoother. How old is that app?How often is that content refreshed? I'd like full past SEC games to watch. There are none from '11, is that just a rights thing? You must pay for those? And if it wouldn't be too much to ask how about some old A&M vs. traditional SEC teams alla Auburn, LSU, Bama, MSU, Arkansas, etc.
And also, your next post will be your last for today so make it count,ha! Or you can edit previous posts. Anyways, thanks for being on TexAgs Radio this morning and keep up the great work!
EricSan

JMH,

There's a limit? Really? The app you mention is in the process of getting updated now. In terms of the content on that app, we have it so the website/mobile/TV are all updated together. So essentially when a video is uploaded is it sent to all networks. Works well.

As for full games, I'm not sure of that. There may be a rights issue there.

9. I just registered. Why am I unable to make more than 5 posts?

ROOKIE level accounts are only allowed to start 1 topic and make 5 replies during a 24 hour period.

PRO level accounts are only allowed to start 3 topics and make 10 replies during a 24 hour period.

Once an account reaches VETERAN status, there are no posting restrictions.

User accounts with subscriptions (Basic or above) are not affected by the posting limitations.

Just the rules that we abide by. Let me say that your first five posts are definitely more constructive than probably anyone else's first 5 posts in the history of TexAgs. This thread rocks also.

+1

btw, you only have 5 posts, but I believe you can go back and edit any of them as many times as you want...so I would suggest that you just edit the original post with your responses and that way all of the information will be in one post and you can continue to provide information!

May I ask what constitutes a media website? and what is missing from TexAgs to become one? They have a radio show, more content than most other media outlets, and more viewers than the LHN.

Eric,

Thanks for all you do and thanks for reaching out! I would suggest reaching out to Staff as well on here and on other SEC sites to get premium posting abilities. The quality of the conversation only goes up the more premium your membership.

A few thoughts:

Right now the SEC Network is a great source of raw information and some basic analysis. It is on a different planet from the Big 12 Network but that shouldn't be the standard. Certainly I like the content available and this needs to be increased as this is a great foundation.

I see the SEC Network with the potential of becoming the "ESPN of the South". No other college conference dominates the area it is in like the SEC. Everywhere else college football typically is second fiddle to pro sports or is diluted at best with other things. If you take on that attitude then it can happen and the power of the Network (and thus the website) will grow. So with that in mind:

More analysis. Right now a lot of the stories are more informational and recap oriented. Good information no doubt but not that compelling. Why not take the next step and really get some good discussions and analysis by a staff of writers and broadcasters? I would love to have hard core SEC guys that really know all the schools and teams breaking down the conference. You see some of that from various blogs already but there is room for more and you have the SEC brand behind you.

More interest stories. I'd love to see more stories on different schools and human interest stories, fun tailgating tips, and of course information on traditions and peculiarities about them. I'd love to see an SEC food critic for instance that travels to the different cities and talks about local eats. Also more reporters that are going around finding out cool stories about the inner workings of what goes in to a Gameday at different schools. Certainly the human interest stories about players that overcome adversity or that are great community folks or academic superstars would be interesting as well.

Every sport should be fleshed out with people that are writing about them several times a week during their season and a couple times a month in the offseason. Give people a reason to be interested and they will come.

I would consider doing a spin off of Gameday. A live show that starts early on Saturday mornings and has multiple folks talking non stop SEC Football.

Thanks again for all you do!

Aggie 93 -

I think strategically your comments and reccomendations should dovetail nicely with a potential SEC TV network. Lots of opportunity for cross-platform sharing. I would expect the investment in reporters, facilities, etc would be significatly increased once a true network comes into being. Also, Eric, please keep the friendly face of Hannah around.

One thing the Big 12 did that I actually liked was hiring a former newspaper writer (Wendell Barnhouse) to provide commentary and analysis for the site. That wasn't a bad move on their part.

Aggie 93,

You have a wealth of good ideas. I do think, as stated in a later reply, that some of your thoughts go more in hand with a TV network (which doesn't exist right now) than a web portal.

However, we do have a staff of SEC Nation writers which provide unique commentary throughout the year. You just don't see it now because the season hasn't started yet (soccer of course has).

http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/SECNation.aspx

We have weekly blogs for volleyball (Phil Bush), softball (Tommy Deas) and track and field (Sean Cartell). Sean also writes 2-3 feature stories a week, covering a multitude of sports in the SEC (just search his name).

Men's hoops gets its own part of the Digital Network, with Blue Ribbon editor Chris Dortch providing two articles a week (one conference summary and an interviews piece) during the season. Link below.

http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/SECNation/BlueRibbon.aspx

For football, we have Ron Higgins (award winning Memphis Commercial Appeal writer) penning a "Traditions" column once a week, where he breaks down a special happening at an SEC school (link below).

http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/SECNation/SECTraditions.aspx

I also write a Monday "Three and Out" football column, which I'm actually working on as I type this. That and other "Insider" (it is free) behind the scenes stories can be found here.

http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/SECNation/SECOfficeReport.aspx

Our SEC Nation section provides all of this content, and perhaps we haven't done a good enough job of showcasing this material. As for updates, trust me, with football season around the corner, expect tons of fresh content.

2wealfth Man -- I'll let Hannah know she has your support.

Hope this helps.

Blue Star Brandon!

Eric,

Thanks for the response. It sounds like you are on the right track. I would still say ESPN.com is a great barometer for you. You should certainly be able to go to your site and find more and better info about the SEC than the analysis there. It will dovetail in with the TV Network when it is launched and actually give you some ways to try out things that would go on TV. Personally I rarely even watch live TV outside of sports anymore. I prefer the content you can get online. I would also make sure that you are using Twitter to the max in terms of every time new compelling content is put out there people know about it. I would also step up your recruiting coverage, that's an area that folks primarily read online and right now the choices tend to be school specific or nationally driven. SEC specific coverage that is analytical would also be interesting.

Keep up the good work and dream big!
