How would you feel about playing us around Thanksgiving instead of Arkansas?

It really doesn't matter to me if LSU plays Arky or TAMU on turkey day. The biggest rival for LSU right now is Bama and after them would probably be Auburn.

I hope we don't play on Thanksgiving no matter who the opponent is. We can play the day after.

Don't care whether its Arky or TAMu on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Don't want to play on Thanksgiving Day! The Arky / LSU game is really not a rivalry game for LSU. Agree with the above poster. Alabama, Florida, and Auburn are bigger games. The TAMU game is just another SEC game.

I agree with all of the above. TAMU, however, won't be an SEC game, IMO. Not for like 50 years. You've not yet earned your stripes to be considered "real" SEC. So, you're just a game for now. I mean, look at Arky...they're still working on it.

I vote against a Turkey Day game with anyone.

The day after is perfect. Just, regardless of our opponent,it should be called the "Thanksgiving Food Hangover Bowl." That's how I always feel when watching the LSU-Arky game that day.

After seeing how lethargic the fans and team looked against Kentucky in 2007, I'd rather the game not be played the day after Thanksgiving.

Well at least you're not opposed haha. I know a lot of aggies would be really excited to start a new tradition with a worthy opponent if this happened.

No, they don't have a real main rival. Never had.

They were the wierd cajun freaks from the far western outpost of the conference from inception until the conference expansion in the 90's.

Then with expansion they get to finally treat somebody else as the outsiders.

I guess LSU fans are awfully eager to go to a non-SEC game then, seeing as you guys had 20,000 requests for tickets to the game at Kyle Field this year.

The SEC West in-state rivals:
Alabama vs Auburn
Ole Miss vs MSU

Arkansas is relatively new to the conference and TAMU just joined.

Florida has UGA and there is no telling whether LSU will keep playing UF every year with the possibility that the SEC will expand again.

LSU's traditional rival is Ole Miss but they have gone way downhill and are about even with MSU in recent success.

LSU does not have a permanent rivalry team but as of right now the fans and players are most eager to play Bama.

We know them better than they know themselves. Rivalry weekend it will be and they'll learn to love to dominate spotlight on Thanksgiving the years we do that. Just eat your turkey, bid everybody farewell and go the evening game

Do LSU fans regularly post on messsage boards of schools they don't care about?

I will not pull for LSU. Unless their win directly helps our situation. I hate LSU.

Remember those days from about the time I was born until about the mid 90's when LSU was mediocre to terrible each year. A little bit of success over the last 15 year's has really gone to their heads. Stating to.sound like whorns.

I went to the LSU game yesterday, their fans are insufferable

One of the premium forums was having a minor meltdown over a 41-14 win with a 1st time starter at QB. The game didn't quite live up to expectations but they still got 508 yards of offense. The last time LSU got 500+ yards was in 2007. The b*tching is unbearable.

Every SEC school except Arkansas and Mizzou were members of the SIAA before the SEC. So that's why we're legit and they aren't

There are a lot of other teams most eager to play Bama. And there is much more to a rivalry than just two teams being presently successful. And Arkansas has taken it to you in that game so stop acting like it was just another W.
How old are you LSU posters?! You don't know much about the A&M series eh?

JMH, Tulane and Ole Miss historically are LSU's rivals. Both schools can't hold up their side of the rivalry. So, LSU fans hate other schools instead. Mostly UF, Bama, and Auburn.

UF and Auburn more when under Spurrier and Tommy T.

And I'd say the Bama rivalry is getting pretty legit with the Saban connection. Although LSU is 3rd at best rival to Bama after Auburn and Tennessee

Agreed Rusty, I was thinking Tulane probably used to be. I'd be mad if I was a Wave fan knowing how good they were, a member of the SEC, and where they are now.
Its funny a bit how Ole Miss had become a rival. The Arkansas/Golden Boot has been forced so I understand not caring about that.
LSU fan you might want listen to us. Yes we want it to work for us so that we still have a huge game at Thanksgiving but, there are a lot of reasons that this should become a great rivalry!

A&M and LSU will be a great rivalry again but it may take a year or two, or until A&M wins. The schools have a lot in common and have the history to be rivals. It was a definite rivalry back when I was in school in the late 80s/early 90s. Go over to Tigerdroppings or SEC Rant and outside of a few tools they want A&M as their rival. They also know that they can never be more than Bama's #3 Rival and the Arkie rival has never taken root. Even with Ole Miss they are a #2 Rival and it's no fun to just completely dominate the other team so badly with no prospect of that changing.

A lot of what makes a great rivalry is how much you share in common with your rival. A&M is the only school that has always had so many significant ties to Louisiana, especially Western LA. LSU also has always been tied to East Texas, esp from Houston East. Not just players but also a ton of grads on both sides from that area and people that work and live from the schools in those areas. The petro industry is part of that as is the strong Ag background of both schools.

The Thanksgiving thing is a foreign concept to SEC folks. They just don't get it so they don't want it. I do think if we could play on Thanksgiving a couple of times the LSU folks would warm up to it. Thanksgiving football is just special and a fantastic way to finish up the regular season.
