They looked pretty weak tonight.

Vandy is actually pretty salty. Might end up being a top 30 team. And Franklin is a superstar coach who in the next couple of years will find himself with a plum D1 job. He just gets it.

James Franklin has been mentioned as one of the top up-and-coming HC's in CFB after he took Vandy to a bowl game in his first season. UGA is probably the best team in the Eastern division and they may not even be the 4th best team in the West.

USC certainly appear to be a bit over-rated at #9, but Vandy could very well end up as a top 25 team this year. If the blind official made the obvioius PI call he was staring directly at, Vandy probably wins. After watching this game though, I'm more confident that Georgia wins the east.

I never understood how people thought SCar would be better than UGA. The only advantage that I can see the Gamecocks having over the Bulldogs would be at RB(Lattimore returning from an ACL injury and UGA booting their only RB off the team). UGA has the clear advantage at QB and WR. I'm not sure about the o-lines. The defenses are a push.

SEC hate is flowing on the airwaves today. Judging the whole league on one game which included Vandy.

I thought Vandy looked horrible. Their front 7 on defense is slow and undersized. They won't win 6 games.

USC at times looked like they played with a real lack of effort. Their defense was clearly out of shape, and they don't appear to have any semblance of a passing game. They may still win 7-8 games because they play in the SEC East, but they are a fringe top 25 team at best.

Connor Shaw isn't 100% and Marcus Lattimore just came back from an ACL tear. They also need to find a replacement for Alshon Jeffrey. It will take a few games for their offense to get going. I cannot see SCar staying in the top 10 after this week. They will probably drop closer to 15.

Yeah, the favorite in the East is clearly Georgia now.

I'd take Mizzou seriously as a dark horse, though.

Just an observation from a longtime SEC fan

Schedule rotation probably is the single biggest factor in winning the SEC divisions and CCG.

USC may be better than UGA but UGA has the schedule this season to win the east. The Gators are hobbled by LSU. VU actually has a good schedule this season because in this rotation they miss the Big 3 in the west in 2012 (Bama, LSU, Arky)

1st game of the season on the road against a division opponent? I'm going to give them some slack.

They be a bit over rated, but a division opponent for your 1st game (one that has improved the last couple years) may not be the best indicator.

They said last night that Vandy's d-line averaged 265lbs!! They did a great job against the USC o-line or USC is really bad.

Possibly? Sure. Probably. No way. They would have still had plenty of work to do in order to get into the endzone. I hated the non-call, but to say that Vandy would have "probably" won is a bit of a stretch.

LSU's d-line averaged slightly above that last season. The starting DE's ranged from 240-245 pounds and the one of the DT's was about 290 pounds. The NT Brockers had his weight listed at 305 pounds during the season. He weighed in at 322 pounds at the NFL combine though.
