wow.

That's the SEC in general, and they seem especially quick with the axe at Auburn.

Also hurts him that most of the country believes they bought that CHAMPION$HIP.

Maybe because they did?

Cam's daddy did get something like $200k out of nowhere right before he chose to go to Auburn. It looks bad but I'm sure they think it had a good ROI.

Normally I'd say it was odd. But Auburn has fired coaches with long successfully track records after just one mediocre season.

That's not exactly a long and historic career.

The fans in Auburn know Chizik isn't really a good coach. Hasn't it been speculated that the Admin hired him b/c they knew he wouldn't get in the way of how they run things?

That's the nature of college football in particular, and life in general in these microwave, Twitter days.

"What have you done for me lately?" is what matters.

Well when the truth slaps you in the face you consider your options. Very average coach who ummm "recruited" one bad azz leading you to the National title does not equal job security.

I'd say he's over-achieved. We'll see how this team responds this season, but supplemented with the 2013 class coming in...Auburn is going to be just fine.

Frazier is really his first true test. Tyrik Rollison was the first QB recruited by Chizik. Rollison's attrition was the reason they took Newton in the 2010 class, so i don't think you have a large enough sample size since all the QBs on the roster aside from Frazier/Mosley (who is injured). Frazier is a spread QB recruited to play under Malzahn learning an NFL system right now. He is a bit in over his head right now but he's still a true sophomore.

Even Auburn fans know that Cam Newton is the only reason they have a national title.

Everyone needs to get off Chizik's case and leave him alone. He is a good Christian who would never get caught in a "Petrino" type situation. Tuberville didn't leave him a full cupboard. He's 2 years removed from a BCS NC and has recruited a Top 5 class his last 3 recruiting classes. Pat Dye wouldn't trade him for any other coach in the nation. I hope auburn gives him a raise, an extension and increases his buyout.

Wareagle, regardless of who Auburn has run out at QB (other than Cam) why can't Chizik field a good defense? Even with that stud Farely on the defensive line, the '10 team wasn't a great defense.

Isn't Chiz supposed to be some master defensive coach?

Depth and youth

Wareagle, I asked our design dept guys, who are all Auburn guys, if they were coming to any games, especially our game and if tickets for them would be hard to get. They said that probably by our game it won't be hard to find tickets if they keep going like they are.

They acted like the bailing out by their fans can be huge...

Auburn never sells out games except for the Iron Bowl and maybe LSU, so tickets are almost always available. We aren't the best fans in terms of team support, IMO. home opener was pretty weak even for 1130 and a garbage opponent. Not a lot to be fired up about right now. It's part of it though. Years like this, I just enjoy being on campus and if we turn it around -- glad I was there for it.

Oh, c'mon now, this is the almighty SEC we are talking about! Tickets readily available and fair-weather fans not blindly supporting their team? What gives?

the auburn program has been sabanized. stress of what was coming made Tubby quit, and the corrupt program they are running to fork out 180,000 for a superman. now look at them. karma is a b****. Chiz is a good guy, but he is pinnochio with Pat Dye pulling the strings with one hand while guzzling wild turkey with the other. Until Dye is gone auburn will flounder. and bama will smile.

... and I thought Dye was permanently banished from the program.

When you look at Chizik's career as a whole you can see pretty clearly that he isn't all that good of a head coach.

The Auburn Cam Newtons wont a national title for him, and other than that he's resoundly average or less so. His time at Iowa state proved he can't do much of anything if he doesn't have the better team. Auburn hired him away and Iowa State has been better off ever since (Rhodes' worst season still had the same number of wins that Chizik had in two).

For god's sake, Chizik lost to our 4-8 Sherman team.

And of course the fact is, Auburn isn't going to have the best players in the SEC West on any sort of regular basis.

Chizik kinda reminds me of a Mack Brown. He recruits very well, but the success on the field doesn't match the talent level. He has one MNC, but it was due to an insane year by a very good QB.
