Here's what you need to know. There was a rogue booster (Miss St.) from Atlanta that was trying to assist with recruiting. The MSU administration found out about these rumors in the Spring, self reported to the NCAA, and the irregularities were investigated. The 26 year old WR coach who was just recently promoted from a GA position knew about what was going on and didn't inform Coach Mullen. Said Coach (Angelo Mirando) resigned before the season started this year. The NCAA has already done their homework and MSU is awaiting word about any penalties. Insiders are saying that at worst, State is looking at 1 to 2 years probation with possible loss of 1 or 2 scholly's. These are minor violations. Much ado about not much. The big news will be coming out of Auburn very soon.

Mullen ain't going anywhere. There will be no bowl ban, nothing more than a loss of a scholly or 2. We are too close to doing great things for him to go anywhere.

I'm not a State fan or alum but living nearby and knowing many State fans, Mullen is not going anywhere unless it's of his own choosing. I really like him and think he is a great coach. If NCAA comes down hard on them for this, it will be evident that they (NCAA) are the ones that are corrupt. They seem to come down on schools that are up and coming more than those powerhouses that do not try to run clean programs. They always seemed to have an ax to grind with Jackie when he was there. I'm actually an Ole Miss grad but I don't really hate State nor do I want to see them get an unfair deal from NCAA. I just want to beat them on the field come November!

Dixie is right. Mullen is a god in Starkville. Mullen's record in his three years at MSU are:

2009 - 5-7 (3-5 in SEC)
2010 - 9-4 (4-4 in SEC)
2011 - 7-6 (2-6 in SEC) (had to beat Ole Miss just to make a bowl game)

He was basically 1 game better than Sherman was here. But he has beaten Ole Miss the last three years and that is huge in Starkville.
