hasn't scored an offensive touchdown in the first quarter since 2010. That is all.

SEC SEC SEC!!

Let's be honest, Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss, and Auburn are all awful this year. They are not good teams regardless of their conference affiliation. Being in the SEC doesn't make them magically better!

You forgot to mention Texas a&m and University of Florida.

Lets tap the brakes on Auburn being awful. They just went toe to toe with LSU. That's a tough stadium to go into and get a win. We will need to play real well to beat them there. With that being said, I think we can beat them....

They haven't played Arkansas yet this season.

Sips posting on the SEC board now.

Must be the same ones carpet bombing other forums any time the faint sniff of an SEC fart wafts under their internet nostrils.

ContinentalAg,

Probably not.

If I were more motivated I would research a pet theory that UK football success only rises when the basketball team is not doing well.

Cal does well, Joker does not
Tubby does bad, Brooks goes to bowls

Here are some key years in UK sports

1942 = UK in Final Four, no bowl in football
1947 = UK wins GL Bowl, no Final Four
1948 = UK wins NCAA, no bowl in football
1949 = UK loses Orange Bowl, UK wins NCAA
1950 = UK wins only MNC in football, UK fails to make the NCAA tourney in basketball
1951 = UK wins Cotton Bowl & NCAA championship
(1951 was the east coast point shaving scandal so maybe TCU threw the Cotton Bowl)
1958 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 5-4-1
1966 = UK is NCAA runner up, football goes 3-6-1
1975 = UK is NCAA runner up, football goes 2-8-1
1976 = UK fails to make the Final Four, UK wins Peach (now Chick-Fil-A) Bowl
1978 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 4-6-1
1983 = UK fails to make Finals, football makes HoF Bowl
1984 = UK fails to make Finals, football wins HoF Bowl
1996 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 4-7
1997 = UK is NCAA runner up, football goes 5-6 (the Air Raid years)
1998 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 7-5 (the Air Raid years)
(while UK did get the Outback Bowl, the CEO was a UK alumni and Penn State clobbered UK)
1999 = UK misses Final Four, football goes 6-6 and MC Bowl (the Air Raid years)
2006 = UK misses Sweet 16, football wins MC Bowl beating Clemson (Brooks era)
2007 = UK misses Sweet 16, football wins MC Bowl beating Florida State (Brooks era)
2008 = UK misses Sweet 16, football wins Liberty Bowl (Brooks era)
2009 = UK misses Sweet 16, football plays Clemson in MC Bowl (Brooks era)
2010 = UK makes Elite Eight, football loses Compass Bowl to Pitt
2011 = UK makes Final Four, Joker goes 5-7
2012 = UK wins NCAA, Joker goes ?-?

Just a guess, but if football sufferers so basketball can shine a new coach may not change things.

Interesting theory, Kentucky Mustangs. Given UK's revenue, I believe that they could have some sustained success in either FB or BB, but not both at the same time in their circumstances. (Idea based upon allocation of resources.)

Kentucky is not the wealthiest so I think they have to choose where resources get allocated.

Plan A
basketball, where they own the smaller market

Plan B
football, where they must accept a small slice of a big market

Texas has the value of oil money that put it in a unique spot where they have the wealth to do both, and they have an industry that supports migration for jobs which means more people so more recruits.

Ohio and Michigan grew strong with Ore and Autos to fuel their football factories. Now that much of that has gone to China it will be interesting to see where they are a generation or two from now.

Don't leave my boys off the suck list, especially after we get dat arse tapped by UGly this weekend! Funny - we're landing big-time recruits in basketball, Mizzou joins UK in basketball - the SEC East is beginning to look like ACC II.

bigorangegoon, I'm not as convinced as you or the Vegas line (+13.5 to 14) that you guys are gonna lose. Your team has looked really good in the first half against a clearly good Florida team and also NC State. Your talent level through recruiting is a lot closer to theirs than is ours to Florida, and we gave them quite a game.

Recruiting Class Ranking Averages from 3 sites, last 5 years:

Bama, 2.3
Florida, 7.52
LSU, 7.7
Georgia, 9.93
Auburn, 11.1
Tenn., 16.9
SCar, 17.8
A&M, 20.6
Arkansas, 25.3
Ole Miss, 29.6
MSU, 34.4
Mizzou, 36.3
Kentucky, 43.8
Vandy, 54.6

You guys have the talent to beat them. You need more consistency throughout the entire game....which is how you would've beaten a good Florida team. The players just need to do it.
