ContinentalAg,
Probably not.
If I were more motivated I would research a pet theory that UK football success only rises when the basketball team is not doing well.
Cal does well, Joker does not
Tubby does bad, Brooks goes to bowls
Here are some key years in UK sports
1942 = UK in Final Four, no bowl in football
1947 = UK wins GL Bowl, no Final Four
1948 = UK wins NCAA, no bowl in football
1949 = UK loses Orange Bowl, UK wins NCAA
1950 = UK wins only MNC in football, UK fails to make the NCAA tourney in basketball
1951 = UK wins Cotton Bowl & NCAA championship
(1951 was the east coast point shaving scandal so maybe TCU threw the Cotton Bowl)
1958 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 5-4-1
1966 = UK is NCAA runner up, football goes 3-6-1
1975 = UK is NCAA runner up, football goes 2-8-1
1976 = UK fails to make the Final Four, UK wins Peach (now Chick-Fil-A) Bowl
1978 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 4-6-1
1983 = UK fails to make Finals, football makes HoF Bowl
1984 = UK fails to make Finals, football wins HoF Bowl
1996 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 4-7
1997 = UK is NCAA runner up, football goes 5-6 (the Air Raid years)
1998 = UK wins NCAA, football goes 7-5 (the Air Raid years)
(while UK did get the Outback Bowl, the CEO was a UK alumni and Penn State clobbered UK)
1999 = UK misses Final Four, football goes 6-6 and MC Bowl (the Air Raid years)
2006 = UK misses Sweet 16, football wins MC Bowl beating Clemson (Brooks era)
2007 = UK misses Sweet 16, football wins MC Bowl beating Florida State (Brooks era)
2008 = UK misses Sweet 16, football wins Liberty Bowl (Brooks era)
2009 = UK misses Sweet 16, football plays Clemson in MC Bowl (Brooks era)
2010 = UK makes Elite Eight, football loses Compass Bowl to Pitt
2011 = UK makes Final Four, Joker goes 5-7
2012 = UK wins NCAA, Joker goes ?-?
Just a guess, but if football sufferers so basketball can shine a new coach may not change things.
