Dang, the Auburn folks are banging the pots hard and begging for Bobby Petrino to get a call. Sounds like Chizik is toasting less than 2 yrs after his MNC with Cam.

Auburn needs to tap the breaks a bit. If they wait another week or two they could get Mack Brown into the discussion and see which one of these two will work for the cheapest.

Maybe, maybe not. I think Petrino has a ton of coaching and recruiting cred in the SEC. A big mea culpa and he can probably come back soon. I bet any contract he gets will be strict on the morals clause.

As a parent, I wouldn't be surprised if Petrino takes a hit in recruiting. I wouldn't want my son to be around that kind of role model. Great coachs have the opportunity to mold these young men into great leaders in society, and Petrino took a big hit in that department.

Question - given the HR issues he provided Arkansas how can a public institution hire him?

Mack has no plans to retire or leave his current post. Additionally, Rick Barnes has officially removed his name from consideration.

Word on the street in Knoxville is that they're looking seriously at Petrino

All they need is hot blonde grad assistances with loose morals. They don't even have to be that hot.

Auburn has a real PR problem. They are freefalling after a MNC less than two years ago. The pressure to keep up with Bama is intense and many people there think Petrino is the guy who can do it. Good coach, good contacts. He can be "born again" at Auburn in the SEC.

It's the SEC, nothing shocks me. Just remember the whole Cam Newton recruiting fiasco. They will do whatever they can within the lines of the "law" to keep pace and beat Bama. MaxPower - are you really so sure about that? I seem to recall something different.

Auburn, most SEC football powers, will do whatever it takes to win.

Vandy, Kentucky, Missouri....they're waiting for hoops season.

But..Auburn may end up in a bidding war with Tennessee for Petrino.

Off season is going to be nuts, chance that Arkansas (for sure), Auburn (likely), Tennessee (very hot seat), Kentucky (likely), and maybe even Alabama (if saban goes NFL) will be looking for coaches.

I can certainly see Petrino getting a call between those schools. Can't help but feel like Arkansas goes for Tubberville if his season ends strong at Tech, Tech then goes for either Briles or Sonny Dykes. Charlie Strong will surely get a call somewhere as would maybe Kirby Smart. I can't help but feel like Freeze might even trade up from Ole Miss if given the chance. Don't discount Gruden, especially at Tennesse but maybe even Bama if Saban does leave.

I really don't see Freeze leaving Ole Miss after 1 year. He has definitely changed the culture and has them competing much more than previous years, but he still hasn't really proven himself yet. But time will tell

Hugh Freeze won't leave after one year. Tubberville part deux ain't happening.

Charlie Strong to Kentucky is not an upgrade move for Strong. He has an easier road to BCS at Louisville.

Kirby Smart to Ole Miss won't happen, either. He and Saban have a gentleman's agreement that Smart won't take a HC job in the SEC West.

Why the **** would Smart turn down a head coaching gig in the SEC for Nick Saban?

I think eventually someone will hire Patrino, but it probably won't be a school in a BCS conference and probably won't be for another year or two.

ESPN say Idaho wants petrino. Hes from Wyoming, and hell after their coaches meltdown they might need a coach.
