Last year's final score of the MSU-Bama game (24-7) doesn't reflect how close most of that game was. It was 7-0 at half and 10-0 going into the fourth quarter. Alabama completely shut down State's running game to 12 yards (0.4 yrs/rush) and total yards to 131.
MSU's running game this year is not as strong as it was in 2011. Alabama's defense seems to be nearly as good as last year's team so in order for MSU to have a chance at winning this game:
- MSU will need 2 scores on special teams or by their defense.
- MSU will need to keep penalties (especially while on offense) to a bare minimum.
- MSU can not afford to turn the ball over.
- Alabama will need to turn the ball over at least twice.
In other words, it is pretty unlikely that the Bulldogs have a shot at winning this game, especially playing in Tuscaloosa. I just hope the Bulldogs are able to stay in the game and keep it close.
Go Dawgs!
