What does Texags think of this game?

I am excited about having another neutral site game to start the season. They bring national exposure, feature a non traditional opponent, and a different place to tailgate and party. I am also happy to have another chance of our Texas recruits to see the LSU team and fanbase.

I am not a big fan of the city of Houston though. For a major city, it lacks character and doesn't offer much other than concrete and Tex-Mex. I have been to all of the major cities in the country, and Houston has to be the most boring and common of all of them.

I have had a great time at the games in Dallas and Atlanta. I hope Houston can prove me wrong and live up to the others.

If you think Houston lacks character, you've never been there. Or have homebody friends.

You think Houston lacks character, but somehow Dallas does not? Interesting troll. Blue star for you, didn't see that coming.

Against this strictly from a recruiting standpoint. Don't want LSU to play in Houston.

This is a good pick-up by LSU. Wisconsin is a national name, but a year removed from Bielema and they could be on the verge of crumbling.

As you know, there are a lot of great athletes in Houston and SE Texas. L$U is wise to continue to build its brand in that region.

Houston is a lot like DFW- its a microcosm of America and the land of opportunity. You have pretty much every type of restaurant, every type of store, etc.

It definitely lacks the style points of places like Austin and New Orleans, but you can find whatever you want there.

Anyways, Kudos for getting this game. There was talk that the Ags would try to pick up a game with Wisconsin. We should have.

This will probably be one of 2 times I hope you Boudreauxs win that year (the other being the bowl, unless you face another SEC team).

let's see new orleans=character, pretty much any other major city in the US besides NY doesn't hold a candle to new orleans character, including your stupid beloved traffic-laden houston

"what happened to playing the game in Green Bay? That was all the talk a few days ago."

There is still talk of a "return" neutral site game at Lambeau.

"If you think Houston lacks character, you've never been there. Or have homebody friends. "

I have been there more times than I would like. My friends still go out a good bit. I personally just don't like the city and find it lacking.

"Perhaps biggerlsu was part of the influx of Katrina refugees. Yeah - good times!"

No I live in Baton Rouge, not New Orleans.

"Houston is a far waaaaaaaayy better city then Dallas and with more things to do...........stop hatin coonie!"

I am not a huge fan of Dallas either, but have had more fun there than Houston.

You'd have a better time if you did a home & away with the Badgers. Madison is a great town with bars on just about every corner, and they live for football weeekends.

Akin to A&M playing Mich in the Superdome.

A lot of people who "stay with friends" in Houston are doing the equivalent of staying with friends in Mandeville or Hammond and complaining about New orleans.

Houston may have its faults but it's the 6th largest metropolitan population in the country as well as one of the most stable economies in the country. Say what you will but Houston is bad ass

Wisconsin is a blah opponent -- doesn't create buzz

playing in Reliant vs. Jerryworld will save the fans a few dollars

I love Houston and will be rooting for you guys against the Badgers. Always good to play a game in an area you want to recruit.

Houston's changed A LOT since the 80s, when we used to call it "The World's Largest Small Town." The zoning is totally jacked, and partially comes from how large it grew in such a short span of time, plus a major lack of leadership in city planning. Therefore, it truly is unlike many other major cities in probably most developed nations. Things to do are spread truly throughout the city, so it's hard to find a "cultural center" of town. Therefore, people who visit are often disappointed, and that's just the way it goes. If you live or work there for an extended period of time, you are afforded the opportunity to experience more offerings, and people's opinions drastically change for the positive in a vast majority of cases, in my experience.

Ergo, I expect you to dislike it again, and post your displeasure and disappointment here, most likely in a condescending, insulting and belittling manner. (I hope you fall considerably short of my expectations of you, which are based upon experience.)

Lots of Aggies have been slow to accept the reality that college football has gone to more off campus regular season games. It is important for A&M to defend the DFW and Houston recruting areas because lots of schools are playing games in Jerryworld and Reliant for the recruiting exposure and the extra money they receive.

We can defend those cities just by existing and winning. We should play in Atlanta, New Orleans, Tampa, or Miami if we want recruiting dividends.

Completely agree with billkemp.

Houston is a great place to live and work, but not a great place to visit. And Houston is perfectly fine with that. Why spend money to attract tourists when you get a much better return on investment supporting the energy, medical, transportation, and aerospace industries?

"You live in Baton Rouge and find Houston lacking?

The two cities are so different in size it is hard to compare. It is easier to compare Houston to cities like New York, San Francisco, Boston, New Orleans, Seattle, etc...of which I rank Houston at the bottom of the list easily.

I think it's great that some of the people on here like Houston. I am not the one that has to live there.

Baton Rouge is a much smaller city and a college town, so it offers different things. It is a city with an abundance of culture and great food. Baton Rouge is definitely up there with the top cities most people in the SEC like to visit for an away game.

Touché on this troll OP - saying anything bad about Houston is the quickest way to get people all worked up on this site.

That being said, you're still a ******

We had that with Arkansas, for 10 years. We had no idea we'd be joining their conference 3 years into that deal. (This is also my rebuttal to folks dissing our non-conf. SOS, at which point I draw their attention to our upcoming gigs with USC and Oregon.) Also, playing SMU at Kyle and in Dallas is good for exposure up there, to albeit a more limited degree than Bama v. Michigan at JerryWorld last year.

USC and Oregon will be "Our House, Your House" deals, and we'll get some damn good media attention from all 4 of those contests.

1) I've lived in and/or worked out of College Station, Seguine, Houston, Austin, El Paso, New York City, Los Angeles, Grand Forks, ND.

New York's on the bottom of my list. I don't care, troll, for your put-downs of so many things Aggie and Texan. Have a great day, and geude luc next year!

2) You're comparing cities only based upon size. How about any of the myriad of other ways of comparing towns? Per capita education, income, air quality, commute time, murders and rapes per capita, weather, proximity of outdoors activities vis-a-vis weather and recreational opportunities, etc. If I can compare Seguine and NYC, you sure as hell can compare Baton Rouge to Houston, which you clearly don't want to do. Again, you're conveniently (and very intelligently) tailoring your argument around points you like and want to talk about, and avoiding those you don't, just like the "we beat you at football, baseball and basketball, and nothing else matters! NOPE!! Don't talk to me about all the sports where you're better, 'cause I'm gonna think about it long enough to come up with a way to try to invalidate anything that's inconvenient to my argument."

I've told other Ags how smart you have to be to do that, and some of them don't like that observation of mine.
