Had the thought earlier that this concept basically created by fans would be entirely weird in the real world which in turn should make it weird in the sports realm. Have heard so many sips talking about he left for a better job and being a "blue blood". No one in the real world takes a job bc a company was the best there is 25+ years ago but that seems to be the basis of this concept. If you take program names away and just look at the current status of each program just a few days ago. 0% of logical people would call Texas the better job. But when we put program names back in and "history" suddenly Texas becomes the better job? The only reasonable point I could see being made is they think a "blue blood" might get favorable officiating/umpiring. Otherwise, it has to be the most idiotic concept in sports and coaching moves.

People do it all the time, you know how many finance bros want to work at Goldman or JP Morgan? Tech guys want to work at Apple or Microsoft? Health care professionals want to work for the big pharma companies?

All of which you mention are still at the top in their field in the country….exactly the opposite of what I mentioned. Your examples would be comparable to DeBoer taking the Bama job. Duh, no brainer. The top of the mountain currently.

An equivalent to tu would be a engineer wanting to work at GE....a company that was great a long time ago. Since tu's last national championship, seven SEC schools have won the CWS.

If Schloss had left for LSU or Florida you could make the "blue blood" argument.

I think it matters to an extent, but is really less important than the resources and standing of the school for its tangibles. In this case, even though we hate them, the sip job is a really good one, maybe the most prestigious one in college baseball. Its not like a Cal State Fullerton that won a bunch of games but there's nothing to the school.

In the case of A&M vs. tu, the job is essentially the same, with us having less history. At some point you have to make your own. Schloss has no better chance of winning there than he does here.

Your last line is the point. He says so himself that it was about working for his friend….yet every sip out there keeps spouting the line of it because Texas was a "better job" which is illogical.

tu isn't blue blood
