Yes, Schloss is a **** bag, but he did a lot of things right. I hope the next guy keeps up the following:

1) winning, recruiting, portal. Duh.
2) uniforms- loved the uniforms and combos under Schloss. I forgot how hideous the jerseys were under RC
3) Consistent desire to improve BBP. Like it or not, Schloss calling out season ticket holders for empty seats behind home plate increased attendance and drastically improved the atmosphere. I want to see the $80M expansion/renovation happen and the best atmosphere in baseball get even better.
4) media - I really enjoyed listening to him talk ball and where his head was on important decisions.

This has nothing to do with this success of Aggie baseball.

In fact Loss's attempts, or in hindsight, maybe sabotage, of using Targac as 1B coach costs us at least two pick offs in CWS. Yes, 12th man is great but trying to force it into games is not as important as winning games. Sorry, not sorry.

WTF? I'm just talking about the assigning of the number to a particular player, year to year.
Whether that player actually plays in the games or not is irrelevant.

But since you brought it up, Targo had zero to do with those pickoffs.
If you've played baseball, you'd know that.
Just like Earley can't control every individual swing, and whether a batter chases a pitch that's out of the zone.
And Weiner can't control every individual pitch, and whether a pitcher went a little too wide off target.

It's honestly baffling how that was never a thing to me at this point. It seems so important and organic now it's hard to remember it is still a relatively new addition.

That being said, I see no way it goes away now.

How can you say he had zero to do with those plays? He was literally the coach in charge of having the players ready.

Getting picked off by a RH pitcher is inexcusable.

Getting picked by Stark who's favorite play is the back pick, also inexcusable in those circumstances.

But Loss, at that point was rolling out what was most important to the Aggie fan base (for his exit alibi) - the 12th MAN!!! Wtf does that have to do with baseball anyway?

My understanding is this was Earley's idea bc he wanted to be in the dugout to talk to the hitters. Knowing what we know now and the antics of Schloss and they most likely got worse once he decided to go to Texas. Earley being in the dugout maybe helped him not belittle players as often during the game.

FYI, at this level that's ones on the players. It's not middle school select ball.

That's the most idiotic statement I've seen on here in a while, and that's saying something. He spoke to the batter after every pitch/pickoff attempt probably telling them to watch out for the back pick, etc.

Attendance drastically increased because we were winning and in fact number one for a number of weeks. Winning gets the bandwagon folks fired up.
As for atmosphere, he took away a lot of the sound bites played in the past.

So dumb. Scouting reports, pre-game meetings, in-game reminders and you think it's the 1B coach in the moment that cost them a pick off? No.

I didn't mind some of the sound bites going away. They were old, tired, overplayed, and stale. Some of the things Jim did for the atmosphere were bad, others were great. Ultimately, the fans are what make Olsen what it is, not the PA system.

Trying to keep Olsen exactly like it was in the DD Grubbs era and refusing to evolve is a mistake. I know this is contra to typical A&M culture, but we've got to be willing to change with the times. We've gotta update things as time goes by.

Yeah this is just wrong. A pick or back pick is an instant reaction play. If the 1B coach yelling "back" is what you need before you move then you're not a very good base runner. Ours guys made a mistake but it would have happened no matter who was in the 1B box. The 1B coaches job is to spot the ball and help the runner decide when to go or stay. He has no role in a pick off play.

I agree overall but I hope they turn the volume down some between innings. You can't have a conversation it's so loud. That and I was never a fan of the dancers though it wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. The rest I don't have a real problem with.

The music being controlled by someone other than the PA is likely here to stay. Someone needs to educate her (and anyone who takes her place) because she just doesn't what to play when and when to keep quiet.

I never went to Olsen when Schloss was HC, but I was at the last game in Omaha. They played thunderstruck and almost nobody was doing the hand thing we used to do during the beginning of the song.
