Now that we have a coach, wanted to post this thought I've been meaning to for a few days but been distracted by our search….

Working for your bud is all wonderful as long as results are good. Schloss I'm sure never thinks he can fail bc of his ego but he could be greatly underestimating the usual unrealistic expectations of the Texas Athletics program. It will be extremely interesting to see how that relationship is strained if Schloss does something like not make the CWS in the first 3-4 years. They just fired a coach who was in the CWS 2 years ago. Does CDC protect his friend to put on pressure in response the pressure he'll get. I predict if that does happen sip will not be Schloss' last stop unless he retires early. Not a lot different than Billy G and the expectations at Kentucky who also coincidently had morals lacking private lives.

This will be Schloss' last job and I doubt he makes it to the end of his term

The only question is will CDC pay Schloss all of the guaranteed money
Schloss is obvious a man of how character will CDC try to have him fired for cause and void part of the guaranteed money

I'm thinking if he doesn't take them to the CWS in his first year there like he did at A&M he'll start feeling the heat. Sips don't have any patience.

If he doesn't make it to CWS his first 3 years, his job isn't the only on in jeopardy. CDC will be thrown out as well.

Well, they are going to play an SEC schedule this year so there is high probability of this.

Well he has a LONG way to go, from a roster standpoint, to have a snowballs chance in hell to make it to Omaha. If all of our guys come back, he will be in a tight spot. I''m hoping for a sweep next year to knock them out of the postseason, all together.

My dream scenario.

Schloss and CDC just put targets on their chest without realizing it until today. The pressure to win immediately and get to Omaha in Year 1 is paramount to save face.

If we get further in CWS and win the regular season series, all hell breaks loose within the fan base in less than 1 year.

Beautiful so far. And think Schloss really, really hurt is recruiting pitches certainly for any player that we are also courting. What could Schloss say other than a bigger NIL pay check that Earley cannot combat?

My guess is our series with them will be the last week of the regular season in Austin. Much more pressure on Schloss to win that series.

Being friends is a liability for them. Not an asset.

The Infamous CDC is 7 years into his job. Don't think he will be there Another 7 years. I could be wrong though but 14 years as an AD is kind of a time.

I've been thinking the same thing. t.u. just fired a coach who was not failing. He was at t.u. 7 years. Won three Big 12 Championships. He went to the College World Series three times and made it to the Supers one additional time. 42% of the time he went to the CWS. If we throw out the covid year, he was in the CWS 50% of the time. 57% of the time, he got to Super Regionals.

Look. I think that's pretty good. If we were making it to the CWS every other year, do you think we would fire that coach? I wouldn't be happy with firing a coach like that unless I really hated him for some reason. In order to outperform Pierce, Schloss will have to do better than making the CWS every other year. t.u. has some very high and, frankly, unrealistic expectations that Schloss is going to run into pretty quickly. And when it comes down to it, CDC will sacrifice him if he needs to. It's not a good recipe for a friendship.
