Ali getting out of the portal doesn't mean he is for sure coming back, just that he for sure won't go to another school. He may draft high enough to leave.

If the rumors are true and Kent really wants to play SS, I think he's gone. He's not going to start in front of Ali, and I don't think the incoming freshman either. I know SS is a big deal but I think his only shot in the bigs in 2B; I'm not sure he's rangy enough for SEC or MLB SS.

I do want him back, not disparaging the kid at all. He had a helluva back 1/3 of the season.

I think you have to tell Kent, you are my 2b if Ali is here. If he leaves you are next in line. If you beat him out during the fall, that's completely up to you..

You tell Kent, Ali is the incumbent, but all positions are open. Outplay him and it's yours.
