I don't know him, but I'm assuming he's a pretty genuine honest person based off of the players talking about him. I love hearing that as a fan. I hope every coach we hire truly feels like they have an amazing job and loves it. That's good for them and it's good for the university to know people are committed and want to be here. That's how you build something special and make it last a long time. Best of luck to him, I'm sure I'll be complaining about something he decided to do next season just like I did with Schloss haha. But I hope he's here a long time and has a historical run here.

when it's all about money, that's how you end up at a new job wishing you could go back to your old one

Can you imagine being Earley right now? A week ago he's making $150k just came back from CWS in second place; suddenly finds out he's leaving to horn that likely doubled his salary, only to then find a way to come back to the good guys and just 10x his salary and is now the head hancho all within less than a week

Jobs are like boats.

Your 2 favorite days are the one you get it and the 2nd is the day you get rid of it.

No worries, just curious if they released it. But you definitely probably aren't too far off. $1M?

We should give Early a $100k bonus for every win over t.u.

To be fair, for context he said the LSU job has always been his dream job. Until he got here and he and his family fell in love with everything A&M.

Very honest comment from him.

As someone who has attended both schools, the community around A&M is wildly different than the community around LSU.

So I believe him when he talks about Texas A&M and the community from his perspective.

Not a cynic. Love hearing a young coach talk about his love for my beloved AGGIELAND. Ready for the future and for me at my age it's looking BRIGHT.

Not always. Since fall 2021 (less than 3 years time) I've more than doubled my salary through 2 different job changes. There's no way I could go back to my old company and I don't think they could afford to rehire me at this point.

Good for him. I was a HS coach for 41 years. I had several "dream jobs". Nowadays, in the NCAA realm, most of the coaches and a big part of the athletes are mercenaries.
Doesn't mean they're bad people, they're all just looking ahead to maximize they're worth.

I have a really hard time believing he's making $1.5M to start. Pretty sure Schloss was at $1.64M. I bet he is probably between $700 and $800K. I guess we will see here pretty quickly.

That said, I also think he has an opportunity to get that salary up there relatively early on.

Agreed, I don't think 1.5 makes sense, but I wouldn't be shocked if that's the number. I'm sure they based it off of other coaches in similar situations. 1st year, big program, sec, etc..

I'd be absolutely floored if it's 1.5. I said $800k would be an outstanding salary for him. I'm betting it's around that number.

A sweep, yes.
Maybe not a single game. Can you imagine winning 1 of 3 and giving him $100k. That's Jimbo like.

The fact he says Lsu was his dream job and talked to Brauny about wanting to be the Aggie HC before the season (long term not this year), makes it more believable.

Quote:

Growing up a college baseball fan, my dream job, to be truthful, was to be the head coach at LSU. About six months in, I remember telling my wife, "My dream is to be here." Every day I have been here, I have been preparing to be the head coach at Texas A&M. Period. Did I think it would happen now? No.

IMO if anything, this shows the opposite. I'm not sure if mentioning LSU is amazing honesty or lack of feel...or both!

A&M is objectively an incredible job, but there's a lot of things about A&M and College Station that only an Aggie could love. If you don't agree with that, congratulations - you're a true maroon-bleeder!

While we're at it, you could say the same thing to an even greater extent about LSU and Baton Rouge which IMO would be even harder to get used to if you're not from Louisiana.

My point is Schlossmeigel, Lincoln Riley...all of these guys are mercenaries. It's the nature of the job. They move every couple of years as assistants and grind it out with long hours and low salaries and when they get the chance to cash in, they cash in. No one gets this high without being slick AF. This guy is a recruiter and a good one - he has recruited all y'all already!!!

Like I said, great hire and I hope he sticks around 20 years. But get your head out of the sand.

OR maybe I'm the fan of a team who hired the assistant coach of a guy that said he came here to never take another job again, and then took another job the next day.

So forgive me if my f*&#ing glass isn't half full on this one.
