Can we get them back on the schedule now that Schloss is gone? I understand he's the one who refused to play them due to some beef with Heefner. They would be a really great midweek opponent.

What was the beef. I assume bc he's a coach with character that would consistently beat him.

I would like both DBU & TCU back on the schedule.

Love Heef, but consistently beat the Ags? That's a stretch.

Pretty sure they meant when he was at TCU

I'd love to play DBU and Baylor in the midweek. Easy road trips for fans to make on a Tuesday night

It was pretty fun beating them in the 2017 regional in Houston.

Baylor baseball sucks. We can own them every year

Jim does not have a beef with Heefner. Heefner has a beef with Jim. Heefner knew years ago what we've found out over the past couple of weeks.

With the decline of Rice, DBU and TCU are far and away the best and most consistent regional non-conf opponents we can hope to schedule in the mid week. I think TCU should replace Texas as a home and home midweek and we should get DBU on yearly as well.

Yeah, the mid major programs need someone to play.

I was sorta hoping the midweek game with sippie would continue even with their move into the SEC with the game played either at park of the team that did not host the conference series or better yet rotating among the minor league parks around the state. Obviously that ain't happening anytime in the foreseeable future now.

Interesting. No one saying Tech needs to come back on the schedule.

Not an easy trip for a midweek. On the other hand tech has shown to be willing to travel for midweeks. Anyways as long as the Ags don't ever have to play in Lubbock unless the NCAA sends us there, I'm OK playing the tards as a midweek game or even a weekend series.

TCU isn't exactly a quality opponent anymore...

Wonder if some of these schools would a 3-1 "Home and Home"
Like Tech, Baylor, DBU, TCU

We get a weekend series one year at home, they get a midweek at their place and money.

Middle of the pack schools like that will ask for more than a one off at our place, and deservingly so, but aren't worthy of a 1-1 home and home.

I am in the minority, but I liked playing Tech in everything but football. I hated Tech football home weekends when I was a student (90s) because there was always a lot more vandalism from them than anyone else.

That said, I'm from the panhandle, so I admittedly grew up with a much higher Red Raider exposure than most of you.

They are one season removed from going to Omaha. IMO, last season is more of an aberration than the first two under Saarloos, Even if you don't think they are a "quality" opponent, they would be less of a SOS hit than most of our midweek slate.

Same, from the panhandle and was at the infamous goal post game. All my friends that went to Tech are cool.

Mid-week games need to be manageable bus trips. That means we're limited to TCU, UTA, DBU, Baylor, SFA, SHSU, Tarleton, Lamar, Texas Southern, UH, Rice, PVAMU, Texas State, UTSA, and maybe TAMU-CC. Not that we'd even consider making road trips to most of those places, but almost no one outside of that list will be willing to come to Olsen on a Tuesday for a single game. Occasionally, we'll catch a northern team snowbirding, but out typical mid-week opponents are geographically limited.

Wouldn't be bad like we did a few years ago
Play a midweek game at a minor league park then travel to SEC away series
Feel like we played TAMUCC at Whataburger field then traveled to Georgia

Also with Baylor how awesome would it be for a lefty to knock one into the Brazos

TAMUCC plays most of their games at Whataburger. That's a home game for them.

Unless we HAVE to travel, we want to play ALL our games at Olsen/Blue Bell.

I don't think it's so bad to hit the road a couple of times midweek before conference play. Why are you so set on playing everything at home?

I agree. It would be good for the team to have away experience before conference play.

We played two road midweek games this past year. Sips and Texas State. I think that's typical. 2-3 road midweek games per year.

It's not that I want to play all mid-week home games, but TAMU actually makes money off of baseball on their midweek home games, along with they have a better home record. I do want to play away games and away games against good competition.

"Home" game when Ags are in town

I understand games at Olsen are better for us as fans but what's better for us as fans is not better for the team
