This pic is from the 1980s and shows the intensity that used to be in the series with tu. With recent events, I think we'll see a similar intensity in the future (even if we can't exactly run over the catcher anymore).

PS - I'm not sure of the exact year it was taken. I saw it in a display at the Aggie Credit Union around 1988 and was able to buy a copy from the photographer.

You can run over the catcher if he's blocking the plate without the ball.

This was the Friday night game in 2001 (back then the series was split - Friday at one park and Sat/Sun at the other).

That is Justin Moore on the mound - he started the game and went 10.1 innings. Russ would get the win on the mound after his pinch running bulldozing.

It was my first A&M v tu baseball game and I was way down in the old metal RF bleachers.

Chris Russ was just a warrior. His Dad has been, and is, a phenomenal coach on the Select scene in Texas. Chris and his brothers have great baseball DNA.

When he was a freshman, I saw him pitch in a Regional (I think). Olsen was rocking. Packed house. Chris, a freshman, had no fear. He mowed them down. He would throw a pitch and immediately step on the mound with an attitude of, "Get in the batters box. Let's go cause I'm fixin' to send you back to the dugout." And he did.

Good point. Surely they wouldn't be dumb enough to try that. Oh, wait.... nevermind.

I need to root around through the stuff I rescued from my parents' house and find my memorabilia from the 1993 series. That was a fun weekend. Got to hear an old women curse our team out after the finale in Austin.

It's certainly possible, but I think you'd see more of the ball if it were in his hand. Unfortunately, the photo isn't all that clear. I wonder if anyone knows what year this is from so we could try to find the details on the play.

Chris Russ aka The Vulture.

Also, Will Johnson on the call. And we had a Warpinski and a Wardisnki on the team at the same time. Very confusing.

I forgot about them....and to add to the confusion, they were both also named Ryan

I was going to post this exact thing.

What can be...
<flailing arms>
...unburdened...
<more flailing gestures>
...by what has been...

On repeat and on many stages.

This picture is wild.

It looks like the catcher has the ball in his right hand. Would love to know the story of that play.

Me too, but I haven't found anything on the internet about it. But I'm guessing a random play 40 years ago probably isn't documented anywhere. I even took the photo out of the frame hoping the photographer's info would be on the back, but it wasn't. Maybe someone will see this thread and solve the mystery.
