Teams straightening out bonus pool is best answer. Though Braden was rumored to have made a side agreement that was in recognition of his injury prior to the draft. Imma gonna guess that came apart after he had an agent…since he's still unsigned.

Correct, August 1st. Want what's best for Wyatt and Braden, but hard to not pull for a miracle for the Ags…

He has had an agent for over 2 years and he has been involved in everything - including negotiating his NIL deal at A&M. My guess is that Red Sox reneged on the previous agreement or they are playing hardball in the negotiations

I don't see any way that Montgomery doesn't sign. He'd be low balled next year regardless of round taken. Stanford is an interesting one.

I don't know all that goes into making the decision for 18 yr olds being drafted, but if I was Wyatt's parents I'd want my kid to go to a big university for at least 2 years just for the networking value and a chance for them to mature some in a university setting.

The choice for high school prospect relative to D-I baseball is sign now, or play 3 years. If you don't sign out of high school, the can't draft you from a D-I program until you turn 21 (which is why there have been a couple of cases of super prospect going JUCO after a great freshman year, so that they would be eligible for the draft a year earlier).

Currently the Red Soxs have not signed 4 of their top 10 draft selections, which includes Braden who had a slot value of 5.48mil and their 2nd rd selection Payton Tolle who has a slot value of 1.85mil. Hard to see them not signing their top 2 selections.

6 of the 10 are first rounders which can't be a coincidence. There's really nothing to be gained by turning down first round money so I assume the clubs know those guys will sign for less at the 11th hour. Particularly the college guys but even the HS guys have more downside risk than potential reward in not signing. By Wednesday I'd assume that list is 0.
