Why haven't we seen any base runners with a sliding glove this year??

Saw some call poly players with them in back pocket. But much fewer than previous years.

I have the same question. Why are they not being used like before

Because they are stupid and look dumb. Most players especially younger ones only wear them for the " drip"

I've attended thousands of baseball games at the college and HS level and never seen a player injury his fingers sliding into a bag.
Oven mitts are dumb

And the players wearing them in their backpockets while playing in the field… don't even get me started .

We're waiting until one of our stars break their finger first perhaps. Softball also doesn't wear them last I checked.

Because they are not 12yo prima donnas.

Because they are 12u travel ball players looking to be drippy with ice cream cone painted cleats and Mardi gras beads

I always thought someone should get a glove that extends out like 2 feet. Would help on steal attempts.

What are those little fanny packs our players are wearing on the back of their waists for?

Those were handwarmers not fannypacks.

I will say that last spring one of the few players on my son's 14u team that doesn't wear a sliding mitt actually fractured a fingers on a slide and was out for a month.

He had a sliding mitt when he came back.

AggieBB is that you? Could not have said it any better.

And the reason you don't see them on this team is because they are more interested in winning a natty than looking cool. Soft players wear those stupid oven mits. We don't have any soft soft players.

Have player now days turned into such p..sies the have to have a sliding mitten!!! I think back when baseball players didn't have all the guards and pads they gear up with now. It looks like a costume when they come up to bat. Hell, go borrow a football uniform!!!!!

We had a coach tell players they couldn't wear them because one kid got picked off 1B adjusting his oven mitt. And then next game had a play on with runner at 3B and batter walked and was supposed to run straight to 2B with the infield in.. he literally walk/ jogged to 1B grabbing his oven mitt and stopped at 1B.
Nobody was allowed to wear one the rest of the season.
I for one was glad to see them eliminated

And not one player suffered a finger injury all season… I know crazy huh

Probably similar to the breathing strips all the NFL players wore on year after years ago. Everybody was wearing and they were the greatest thing ever…and then vanished like a fart in the wind.

The Ghost of Pete Rose would like a word.

Pretty sure Grahovac, Kent, and Kiel have been wearing them. Maybe a couple others. I'm not really pro or anti. Just don't wear it in your pocket in the field and get it strapped on quickly. I've seen a few broken fingers & one broken thumb when not using them so they have their place.

And quit with the BS "drip" with the ones that are decorated like ice cream cones or whatever. Thankfully that's a youth thing and not a college thing. Team colors only. And wear it on your correct hand.

My oldest had one (solid black) when he was younger and coming back from a broken wrist. He wore it for like 2 tournaments after that and it never left his bag again.

I always found it funny how many players wore one, but on the hand they didn't lead with when sliding.

What's the ruling? Do you "gain" an inch or two of reach?
