The majority of the talk has been about our woes at the plate, and they are CURRENTLY substantial. For reference, after checking the box scores for all the game played to date - we have been out hit in over half of them. We haven't played a single team that would be considered a quality opponent.

The bats will come…

Pitching, however, is what scares me the most. Our Friday/Saturday/Sunday starters have been the bright spot on the team. Get past them and it gets dicey. We have 3 reliable guys coming out of the pen and no closer. How we get from the 6th - 9th inning is going to give Early a lot of sleepless nights. When we get to SEC play and teams built to hit, it could get ugly in the last 1/3 of the games.

We're gonna have to score a ton of runs to be in the hunt, come May.

My hope is that Early becomes a coach synonymous with Aggie baseball - I'm on the fence.

another challenge for the young coaching staff...

what do you do when you have 3 good starters and no bullpen

in the past...coaches would move one of their starters to long relief / tandem start in order to hold onto a Friday night or Saturday night lead

and then let Sunday take care of Sunday

it's a pretty good strategy in road series to make sure you don't get swept

The bullpen might take a while to sort out, but we have some pieces to work with. Getting Stewart back healthy would be a big help.

I'm tired of hearing the bats will come. Competition is only to increase from here

Well, we have to have some place to put our hope. Higher temps will help our bats - balls will start to carry. We have had several ball that would have been comfortably out of BBP were it not for the low temps/wind blowing in.

Yes, same holds for our opponent, but there is just too much talent on our offense not to figure it out at some point. With a little luck and our batters stop pressing, it will be sooner rather than later.

As I mentioned on another post I'd move Patton to this role. Gives you a shot to win 2 out of 3 and then you just have to piece together game 3 as best as you can.
