Glad we have two this week. Earley indicated in the stickied TA interview we are likely to see lots of new folks, which is always fun.

There are a few games tonights if anyone needs to scratch the itch.

Tulane v Long Beach (ESPN+) tonight at 8pm might be fun, although it appears the 49ers are down this down this year (I'm not calling them the Sharks...)

My goodness, Texas Tech seems to be bad this year. They're 3-8 and they're about to play a road series at Grand Canyon. How badly do people not want to go to Lubbock when you have to make a roadie to GCU?

Going to Phoenix in and of itself isn't bad. Playing at Grand Canyon University seems strange. I know GCU isn't awful, but could you imagine A&M playing a team of that caliber in a weekend series on the road?

For some reason, Grand Canyon seems to have a big home series every season in February. I'm not sure what the appeal is but they usually host a pretty big team.

When a fielder attempts to get a lead runner and fails when another play(s) elsewhere would likely have lead to an out. Probably the play in which such a ruling most often is made is on a sacrifice bunt and opting to get the out at second (or third) and failing to register the out although the out at first would have been easily made. In this game it may have been occurred in an attempt to cut down a runner at home.

JK has this covered above. I would add that the jomboy video I linked is quite entertaining and worth a quick watch. Just an absolutely wild sequence of events.

My favorite stat of the inning: CF didn't touch the ball in the inning until 26 hitters had come to the plate!

GCU has been in the NCAA tournament 3 of the last 4 years. The 6th player picked in the MLB draft last year was Jacob Wilson from GCU. They've only been D1 since 2014 so they've done some good things pretty quickly.

So far this year they have lost 4-3 to Vandy, beat Texas State 2 out of 3 in San Marcos and next week play Oregon and Oregon State.

But tech picked the wrong weekend. I live out here and it hasn't rained at my house since March 31, 2024. The forecast is for 75% chance of rain and high of 57 on Friday. Saturday and Sunday back to normal so they might have to play 2 Saturday.

so splitting the 2 midweek games kept the Ags basically where they were

currently RPI 131 heading into the weekend

A&M might have picked the wrong year to play Elon with an RPI of 273...ouch

however Cal Poly is a respectable RPI 89 at the moment
