As the off-season was rolling along, I couldn't help but worry in the back of my head about this certain thing that was being slightly swept under the rug (by myself included). It was that our main star players almost didn't have an off-season ramp up at all. They all missed time for their respective reasons. Schott with his knee, Gavin with his wrist/shoulder, Jace missed essentially the whole fall, and so on and so forth. I didn't bat an eye at it at the time, thinking these players were good enough to miss that time, but a small part of me knew deep down that it could potentially be a giant problem.
This not only was bad for the individual players, as we are seeing unfold with Schott and Jace, but the entire team has taken a hit in their absence. As the guys who missed time are trying to get back in the swing of things, it has created massive amounts of pressure on the other guys. Meanwhile were seeing guys like Kent and Henseler soar after putting in the work this off-season.
Did anyone else take this as a possible bad sign? Does anyone else think this is one of the main reasons we are struggling?
