Long term if Earley is missing something with the offense, maybe we can snag Bill Mosiello from TCU to help Earley. He helped Schloss install the offense he has today and generally considered a top offensive mind in college baseball.

He could help Earley fix any offensive issues or blindspots to a pretty high degree. It would be expensive, but it would be the best fix if Earley decides he needs some extra help with the offense. Then if Earley is going to be the real deal, he'd have everything he should need to succeed. And we'd have a great young head coach that loves it here.

Hold on a sec. You're saying pay big money for an assistant coach to help our current head coach who happened to be our hitting coach last year, and who has a former head coach as his pitching coach? What exactly would Earley be providing to the team then?

I believe he is suggesting we hire POS's former hitting coach to help the coach who was POS's former hitting coach

Caleb Longley was supposed to help fill that role. Longley was tu's best hitting & recruiting coach under Pierce

Not exacty, that former hitting coach is who Schloss credits with switching TCU to an offense that took more pitches and helped batters take in more info. That offense then proceeded to take TCU to 4 CWS with Schloss's pitching stuff.

Obviously I don't know how the Early era will turn out, but no one can deny it is off to a rough start. just makes you think that you shouldn't let 18-22 year olds have so much influence in your hiring decision. Maybe this turns around and we make it back to Omaha, but right now that seems like long odds.

Even guys with 30 years of assistant experience can fail. It's hard to know who's going to succeed. How do you judge which coach will be the most motivating to future generations of athletes as culture changes? How do you know which coach will stay a student of the game and change with it? There's a lot that's just best guess.

I don't think Earley was hired just cause of the players, he is well liked and was part of Arizona St. and our offenses that raked. He's got a lot of great qualities. He's going to get better every year he gets to be a head coach. He just needs to make sure the program doesn't get too low while he starts to build, sometimes that's a lifestyle more than a job.
