One of the best defensive plays I've ever seen!!!

That was unbelievable! Man sh*t! Almost went through the wall.

Literally the only good thing to happen in 7 innings today. Shouldn't have even happened if it weren't for back to back errors earlier in the inning.

Those used to be game-winning or saving plays. Not so much this year.

That's a good play, but far from great.

Good play still lost.

He covers 50% more distance than George in RF and catches it outright ehile George was going for the bounce off the wall. I say it's great

I think he made the play because he didn't trust George to do so.

Really don't understand why TK isn't in RF.

Who are you going to put in left? George was worse there than he is in right.

For all his struggles at the plate this year, he has not let that effect his play in the field. The kid plays hard game in and game out. He also seems to be great interacting with kids at Olsen. Even if our season continues to go down in flames, I expect Jace's numbers by season's end to be quite solid.

There was a ton of wind out there, that was really hard to track. It carried him right into a wall and he didn't back down.

Anybody that doesn't commit multiple errors a game.

And look, your weakest OF is always in LF. So TK should have been in RF. Don't care who is in left at this point.

Try another fish until you find one that can catch a damn fly ball.

The wind was insanely high, and changing directions during the game.

His catch was far from routine. It was an excellent catch, and saved runs.

Are you serious? That catch kept us tied going into the 9th instead of starting the 9th down three runs. The guy saved things from spiraling earlier in the game and helped give us a chance later on. It's not his fault that other factors led to us losing in the end.

I didn't even see the original comment here before you quoted ... reminds me why people get ignored!

Welllllll. Was it a game saving play? We lost the game, so the answer is an emphatic NO.

I'm wondering why for 6 months I read we'd have a hard time finding playing time for all the talent we have. George is a negative on the field and the plate. We really don't have any other options? Injuries happen but we're razor thin apparently.

And still only the second best catch of the year for a Texas A&M outfielder.

Here's my take...take it or leave it.

College baseball is an offensive game. Coaches are generally going to play the guys with a propensity to hit the ball. Defense becomes secondary. If the player can catch and throw, so much the better (i.e., Jace). But the first priority is to hit the ball and hit it hard.

Coaches think "all stick, no glove" as opposed to the opposite.

If you can hit the ball with some success, the coach will make a place for you to play on the field. Even if you've never played OF before, a coach will sacrifice defense in exchange for offense.

Right now, what you see is what you get. When the offense isn't getting it done, defensive mistakes become more pronounced.

Quite frankly, OF is really a skill position. You don't have to be fast; you just have to be quick. Your strongest arm goes in RF because of the need to throw from RF to 3B. The ability to read a line drive hit right at you is a talent that is not easily taught.
