If we tank this season, which is looking inevitable.. with the roster we had, the expectations, preseason #1.
We won't keep a roster worth anything for next season.
If we can't win with this roster how are we supposed ro win with a less talented roster?
This is why so many stressed we can't hire a coach just because the returning players wanted him. Those guys will be long gone while we are still trying to rebound our program from this debacle.
Shaping up to be basically worst possible sequence of events imaginable.

because the players that went to Omaha in 2024 may not want to stick around for a rebuild in 2026

Buddy, there wasn't a top coach coming to our program. Schloss left us with like 7 days until the transfer portal window ended. There wasn't a top coach that was moving, because they would have screwed their own programs and none wanted to do that. Schloss leaving after a natty final and the portal window screws teams in our situation.kevmiller said:

There are 0 confirmed sources of any top coaches wanting to leave their programs for ours in that time period.

Your right. NILs need to be performance based.
We could've hired Pierce…!!! He at least had more experience and way more success than Early and taken team CWS - plus would be super motivated to stick it to Del Conte and Schloss….

Get a experienced, smart coach and they can rebuild. The longer you're on this train, the more expense if it is to turn around.

"Buddy", the Schloss to Texas deal was done in April.
A&M being caught with their shorts down is Trev being naive.
While I agree that Pierce is a very good coach this would have gone over like a lead balloon and you know it. Very few if any Aggie baseball fans would have seen this swap of coaches as a positive.. Doubly so for all those kinda sorta fans from the Zoo that flooded this board last June and July.Coryhub said:

Honestly it's hard to be made at hiring Earley, there was literally nobody on here that thought it was a bad idea at the time. We took a shot at a young assistant and clearly whiffed, get a proven coach this time around and hopefully the rebuild isn't too rough

Look, I'm NOT calling you out (there's no point in doing that now or ever as its just frustration talking). However, I'd like you to post the proof that ANYONE actually said that. There may have been a few here and there that added a caveat about this, but after the **** show last summer, most on here were ecstatic to have the hire we got with the returning players. So much so that the previous coach was ready to be forgotten. I may be wrong, but I can't remember ANY POSTER -- and I was on here as much as anyone -- who STRESSED that the hire was flawed because of this. I know for a fact it wasn't "so many." If you can prove me wrong, so be it.
I'm not saying I knew the hire was a bad idea. Like most hires, I'm willing to give most anything a chance. Including this one. But I think while you point out a flaw in the reason we hired him (or one of the big reasons, it was said), I don't think people wanted to hear this last summer. At the very least, they didn't want to think that it was more than just a mild concern. It SHOULD, in retrospect, have been a major (or THE) concern. You can't hire coaches based on either short term results or short term prospective gains, in this case. There may be some exceptions, but not at the level A&M is at.
The thing we can't do is keep doing what we're doing and expecting better results. As in Jimbo. As in Childress. As in many other Aggie coaches that stayed too long or, worse, got extended after only one decent season. And for heavens' sakes, IF we're going to go a different direction in coaching, let's actually GO a different direction (i.e. no Johnson for Childress type move -- with limited exception, you got the same results).
AD needs to meet with 5-7 veteran players in private and get their thoughts on what is going on. Then he needs to meet with the coaches for their take. There is no way this group of talented ball players are playing like this.

What I really don’t understand is
WHO ARE THEY?
They have no identity. It’s individuals out there, not a TEAM.
SET THE TABLE AND COME TO THE PLATE TO MOVE THE NEEDLE!
It’s not over—but they have to find an identity—and a leader!
Probably for the best. Need to rebuild it from from the bottom up. Now have cultural issues on top of bad coaching.
Need to reset expectations and need someone to develop us (from the ground up) into a top 25 program and in a few years (probably 5+ years) hopefully into a contender. ME set us back 5-10 years. Terrible AD/leadership decision to hire him. Terrible hire. Not ME's fault (who wouldn't want a huge salary and title bump), just not even close to ready for the role yet.
Hat's off to TU. They single handedly turned their program around overnight while A&M dives for the bottom. That's what you call leadership...simply brilliant calls.

We've only been saying this for a month now. It's a leaderless team. On the roster and with the coaching staff. Probably all have some sick tik Tok collabs tho.
