not saying we are worth it but OOC stats don't mean **** until about at least half-way through the season. they shouldn't have rankings until then. it's basically just a way for the media to boost their games.

This is the entire post:

I'm shocked at how bad we are offensively. We've scored 4 runs or less in 9 of our 17 games. It's hard to win college baseball games when you don't consistently put up more than 4 runs.

I didn't realize how bad the offensive stats were until I compared them with the others. I knew the average was low, but we're at or near the bottom in all offensive categories. Pitching is pretty good, main weakness is hitting batters.

why do we keep talking about all this amazing talent we have?… maybe some of this talent that came in, wasn't quite as good as we thought… The catchers really aren't good (compared to an Appel), George, Kash, Bergevin, the list goes on… just maybe they aren't that good… and don't get me started on the over-hype of Jace (who has hit about .225 his last 50 games)

Honestly pitching has been pretty good. We just cant field or hit, 2 major components of a winning team. Bright light on the team has been Kiel. Who would have thought a true freshman would be leading a team that made the CWS finals last year.

yes, the percentage of the Ags' problem attributable to "talent" is increasing

quite a few of the transfer players are average to below average

The problem with that is they played well in D1 baseball in the past. If the transfer players played well at the beginning and then started struggling in SEC play, you could maybe say they just weren't as talented as we thought they were coming in. But, that isn't what happened as they have been struggling all season even when not playing elite competition.

Kash's numbers the last two seasons at tech were higher than what he has done so far this year. Same with Galloway. Same with Bergevin.

Combine that with Jace, Schott, and Grahovac (when he was still playing) struggling to come anywhere close to last year's numbers.

Having injuries doesn't help. but our main issue isn't injuries or talent. The healthy players we have aren't playing up to the talent level that they have proven they can play to in past year. THAT is what makes people on this board so frustrated. We can understand the issues with injuries, but having SO MUCH of our lineup regress from last year (even if it was with a different team) is SO VERY FRUSTRATING!

We have two position players from last year's squad. The rest are replacements. This is a rebuild.

Hensler and Kash were supposed to field the void TBD.

Kiel has been the biggest gain for this season IMO.

People looking at results and saying we aren't talented. That isn't how it works. The guys who were 'talented' last year didn't all of a sudden lose their talent. This is 100% a coaching issue.

This is your winner. Alabama has played non-conference series against Bradley, North Dakota State, and Presbyterian. Each of those schools at east doubled our run production over 3 games. Alabama has only shut out one team the entire year besides us. It's not talent, it's coaching.

We are hitting like a bad Childress team while pitching like a regular Childress one. That is the exact opposite of how I though this season would go. If we were going to have trouble, I would have figured it would be pitching. Even our bullpen isn't that bad. More mismanaged imo.

Kelly is a good pitching coach. And he's a cool dude, so the players love him. I miss his weekly interviews on local LSU baseball podcasts. He's hilarious and gives great insight.

He worked miracles with our 2022 staff, and we probably don't even make the postseason without him. Mainieri had left our pitching cupboard very bare for 2022, and we only had like 5 reliable, SEC-caliber arms on the staff. Kelly got the absolute most out of what we had. I wish he could have been rewarded with a ring on the title team the next year, but leaving for the Washington job was understandable.

I think y'all will turn things around. There's too much talent for them to play like this indefinitely. Just like we got off to an awful 3-12 start in SEC play last year before finally getting our act together. The pitching is in good shape; y'all just need to get the bats going.

I'm note sure Childress hitting was ever dead last.
