the best way to break out of a slump is to make it a concerted effort to wear out the opposite field gap. driving the ball the other way gives you a little more time to read the ball and keeps your front shoulder on the ball instead of pulling off. make this a focus for a few games and you will be amazed how how many guys start wearing the ball out.

In the postgame interview Sunday Earley claimed this is the approach that is preached to the hitters. I have seen none of that. They have been over-swiniging and trying to pull the ball out of the yard all year. Earley seems to have had guys bought into that approach last year, but I think his hitting coach is not on that same page.
