The good news is obviously the pitching staff shows more depth this year than many previous years. The concerning news is our ace is having issues finding the plate and giving up home run balls. This is salty group, and with EK finding her rhythm, they will be more potent than they are currently. EK is too good and strong to not get her pitching woes corrected. She did it the second Auburn game.

Have two mid-week games and a non-conference weekend series to get other pitchers playing time and season them. Good luck ladies: praying EK works out her kinks.

I'm not worried about softball in the slightest. Coach Ford seems to be the most competent coach we have this spring season. When she's messed up, EK can self-correct (and Coach Ford knows exactly what's happening when she gets wound up). Our other pitching staff has also done pretty well. This is by far the most enjoyable softball season I remember having!

Emiley looked great through the first five innings, I'm not sure what caused the change in the 6th. Trisha says she tries to do too much sometimes and hopefully being able to use 3-4 pitchers a series will help her not feel like she has to do it all.

Good news -

There are 285 other teams that play Division I college softball and we are ahead of all of them in the RPI.

Florida says hold the phone. We are only second in RPI. Looks like we can panic and say the sky is falling.

This team looks really good and is getting it done against quality opponents. Are we perfect, no, but no one is this year including OU.

I think she will be fine. I think what we are seeing a little is just advanced scouting reports on her. Homeruns happen as well just due to the fact of her velocity. I like how Ford is calling pitches for her, I can see some changes from the previous years and I think she will fine long term. She is an absolute competitor.

The big plus for this team is the fact that they are a true staff this year. Lessentine coming in to close out game 3 of the Bama series speaks volume to what Ford thinks of her and how she has progressed. We got a good start from her as well in game 2.

Peters looked good in relief of Sparks in game 1. Really like what I'm seeing from the pitching staff so far this year. They seem to be getting stronger and more complete as the season is going. Just hope that trend continues.

Warren Nolan still has us at #1. I'll stick with that source, rather than the crooked NCAA. Either way, a reason to be excited about how our season is looking.
