Guy is a total dbag. Hit the homer, flexed, stared down all our players, and spit on home plate. Right in front of me and Ryan Broussard.

The same Ryan Broussard who tossed Asa Lacy, of all people, for saying terrible after a bad call on a ball/strike.

Need to let him hear from us.

Yes. And I have confirmed reports from folks who know him that he is a major league dbag.

This Kentucky team and their schtick tick me off.

But it was brilliant to stand on top of the plate with Broussard behind home plate not giving the outside corner and just being horrible in general.

I actually like today's umpire a lot. His name is Eddie Newsome. He's a true fan, keeps game balls and all his call sheets from games. Believes they are just there to impartially call the game and thinks umpires shouldn't stand out to anyone.

Only knock on him is that he's from Louisiana.

Some are bothered by what certain players do and get away with it, while others get penalized for far lesser behavior. It's more about inconsistent umpires than just a punk player.

Yep. And we are paying these guys one way or another. The problem is blue won't let the players take care of it on the field. Back in the day, Hage would have been plunked. Maybe twice.

Not the same as what is happening this weekend. This weekend is a graze or a turn into a pitch. A plunk is far different.

I know I will catch heat for this…but

I just sat on a plane from BCS-DFW next to Hage's dad. This is his first year at Kentucky. Before that he played at Columbia and was teammates with Schott. They are still really close. Dad was really nice guy.

Very complementary of their experience minus some offensive comments from some fans. But I can see where that probably came from.

No heat from me. We didn't rag him that hard. No cursing. No personal stuff. And spitting on home plate seemed a little out of place. And nobody had said anything to him on Friday or Saturday until he did that.

And if telling him not to spit on our home plate is offensive. Sue me.

I do not think we were the ones out of line. Sure he is a kid. But I have seen a lot of games at Olsen and never seen that before.

My dad was a real nice guy too.

And Mrs. Derm will confirm what we saw. She had some choice words also. And seriously, we had not even said anything about the kid except that he was good. Why would we?

At least Hage's dad was smart enough to schedule a flight that allowed him to be there for the whole Sunday game. We should put him in charge of Kentucky's travel planning.

Just me spit balling but instead of all this vitriol what if we actually just beat the teams we are expected to beat.

Not sure we have ever tried that ever in any sport.

Seems like if we did that then if some piss ant spits on home plate we could just point at the score board.

I don't want to sound like a bad sport but years ago in baseball if you sensed someone was trying to get hit by a pitch, pitchers would unleash a fastball to the back. After about two of those, the hitter would inch back from the plate.

Is that considered a bad thing today?

In today's baseball, yes. They can toss you AND suspend you for additional games if the umpires feel it was intentional.

By the same token, umps can (and should) refuse to grant first base to some of these elbow nicks mere inches from the plate when the batter makes no attempt to avoid the pitch. Most of those vs UK batters were of this category. Umps are not doing their part, and pressure needs to be applied to them.

The batter is not obligated to move out of path of the ball, they just cannot lean into it in any way
