Responsible for our first two SEC wins.

6 scoreless to get win vs Kentucky.

3 scoreless for save vs Tennessee.

Great job.

responsible for our first two sec wins is untrue, it's a team sport. That's sensational and false. He was a big part of them yes. And he's in awesome form.

Thank you for posting. Vitello covered a lot of territory in his post game presser, including what was readily apparent - A&M beat TN in every phase of the game.

Should Moss become our Aschenbeck for this year by using him
for 1-3 innings in relief on both Friday and Sunday games?
VS. long relief like 5-6 innings in one game?

Right now not sure we have seen another consisent relief pitcher.

Meh, Vitello talks out of both sides of his mouth. Seems to be making a compliment, followed immediately with an excuse or rationalization. Glad he turned the offer down. Not the Aggie style at all (meaning it's inconsistent with our values).

Vitello has a skin on the wall....he can say what he wants.

Yeah it would be terrible if we hired him

Values? We don't have "values"...we are NO DIFFERENT than anyone else. We hired our previous baseball coach knowing full well the kind of person he is, but we didn't care. We knew he could deliver a winner and we willingly looked the other way and did not care one thing about it until he left us for a prettier girlfriend.

Vitello is a helluva baseball coach and he doesn't have a...um..."questionable" personal life and baggage to drag around like our previous coach. I wish a thousand times over we had hired him last summer - he's arguably the best college baseball coach in the nation.

But don't give me this schtick about "values". That ship sailed out of College Station a long, long, long time ago.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

ya don't preach values when we just went after chris beard cause he's a great coach. There was no "he doesn't live up to our values" there.

Not preaching. Stating my opinion of Vitello's duplicity, and that I would not want him as the face of our baseball program. I'm not a "win at all costs" nor "ends justify the means" type when it comes to competitive sports. My critics may be. I want to win as much as the next guy, but within the bounds of sportsmanship. There's a lotta BS directed my way. Doesn't faze nor deter me and my convictions.

I like Vitello. And he had some morals unlike our past head baseball coach.

There is nothing wrong with making winning everything. There is a lot wrong when it becomes all about you. And the winning reinforces that.

I'd hire Vitello in a heartbeat if he was available. All coaches have their baggage but he's a winner and a damn good coach.

Perhaps next time you should make it clear from the start that it's *your* values being tread on, not the school's. Or wider fanbase for that matter.

For the record, I'm not a win at all costs guy either, but Vitello hasn't done anything morally objectionable. If some snarky PC answers violate your values you may need to unwind a bit

Next time? I made myself perfectly clear, stating my opinion regarding his duplicity, AND how THAT trait is inconsistent with MY understanding of Aggie values. I realize that all Aggies don't share the same values that a large majority do. Some of them have been quick to point that out, but it doesn't change my opinion one bit!

Not sure if you disagree as to his duplicity or with my assertion that it conflicts with Aggie values. Nor do I much care. Perhaps YOU might consider not allowing ME to get you riled up to the extent you feel the need to set me straight. That goes for the others who took umbrage with my opinion as well.

Be of good cheer!

Sorry for the detail, RR.

I will give a few coaching examples:

1. Nick Saban. That guy was a hard ass and never smiled. His last few years he started laughing at his own schtick. It got humorous.

2. Bruce Pearl. That guy is much different than his younger days. It was fun to watch this season.

Now to #3. Vitello. I actually enjoy his PCs. He hates losing but generally tells you like it is. Of course he will internalize how they could do better. Like I said, sometimes you have to read between the lines with him.

Listening to Vitello's PC post Game 2, I didn't hear him talking out of both sides of his mouth. He was very complimentary of our team and of Weston Moss.

His criticisms were a reflection of things they could improve. That's the job the HC has, to identify how to bring the best out of his players. It's his job to find where they need to improve and how to help the players a learn from mistake.

He did say we beat him in every facet of the game. He didn't shy away.

I know sometimes he can come off as a jerk on the field or from the dugout, but he knows how to motivate his team. I respect what he has done in Knoxville.
