Well we definitely are hitting off-speed way better, and I think hitting fastballs a little better as well.
I don't know exactly, but guys seem to be looking for a pitch and ready when they see it, which is why they absolutely destroyed some hangers in Tenn.

Our hitting is night and day better than a week or so better, which really makes me wonder if Earley took over hitting. The boys seem much more confident at the plate over these last half dozen-ish games.
Most likely related to Sorrell returning to the lineup.
Certainly a key part, but he alone doesn't account for us averaging 10+ runs over the last 9 games, even including the no-no...

I've been telling my wife for a while they are swinging out of their shoes. IMHO, this weekend they were swinging to make contact. Tony V noted their more measured swings in his post game comments.
I love it but still concerned against good pitching. I hope it's just BAS.

hitting is mostly about confidence. when your confident you wait for your pitch and crush. when your not you awing at the pitchers pitch and take your pitch. confidence in hitting is so big and it appears the team is starting to gain some confidence.
Hopefully the coaching staff teaches the pitchers to let the infielders handle fly balls around the mound. This ain't high school.

Well we got no hit on Friday night so he must have taken over hitting Saturday morning

Whatever they're doing, they should have done 3 weeks ago. Lots of ground to make up and I hope it's not too late.
Well, a few of those games were against the likes of SHSU (8-25), UIW, and HCU.
Scoring 9, 11, and 5 against Kentucky is nice. As is scoring 9 and 17 against Tennessee. Crazy there was a no hitter mixed in there, but I'll glady be no hit Friday if it means coming back and demolishing them in games 2 and 3 lol!

I get it, and obviously we all want to see more before we feel comfortable, but Tennessee's pitching is #3 in ERA right now... and that's after our offensive explosion last weekend. They have some very high quality pitching.Mjo4548 said:

Remember in 2022 in Schloss's first year, we did the opposite. Started slow (lost series to Penn and lost a handful of other games) and ended the season very strongly.TexasRebel said:

My suspicion is that at the beginning of the year there was an intense focus on having good at bats, and only swinging at hittable strikes. In that pursuit looks like our bats froze up. And every swing that did occur attempted to take the ball out of the yard. They look much more relaxed and at ease at the plate. And swinging for contact, not to knock the cover off the ball. Hope we can keep it up.NoahAg said:

You leave the ball over the middle of the plate and that's what happens. I am a bit surprised at the number of pitches over the heart of the plate by UT pitchers.
UT was really confident going into this series then started it with a no hitter, run rule.
Then Saturday happened. Lost Game 1 of DH, Aggies get a little swagger then BAM mushroom stamp on 2nd game of twin bill.
