I'm just curious. Back in hs, we had a guy that could only throw this and when he was on, it was impossible to hit. When he was off, it was home run derby. Catching that **** was literally impossible.
MLBers are rare since 2000. R.A. Dickey shows 400 appearances but I wonder if all of those were after he developed his knuckle as a pitch…TyHolden said:

Even the very best will have off games when it just won't "float." They get slammed when that happens. My favorite was Charlie Hough while he was with Texas!!AggieGunslinger said:
I was in the stands the night he made his return to the bigs as a knuckleball pitcher with the rangers. He got shelled, it was HR derby.

Tim Wakefield was the best (IMO) - watching the ball float and move was something else.
I felt bad for whoever was catching for the Sox when he was on. It was usually Mirabelli/Varitek.
How am I the only person that starred this? Bravo, Backyard Gator.Backyard Gator said:Gus TriandosBryanisbest said:

ETA: As much as I love The Wire, seeing this post just caused me to purchase Gus Triandos' rookie card on ebay. Thank you.

same. the old days of arlington stadium was true fandom. those bleachers in August in the first 3 innings were brutal but as boys we never complained. we were so excited to see a big league game it could have been 130F and we would have been happy.
