Yep. We've given away all of our wiggle room. I'm honestly not all that upset with the play last weekend. But we couldn't afford a sweep at this point in the year thanks to all our truly ****ty play the first 7 weeks of the season.

Yeah, overall I think we played pretty well. Starting pitching gets an A+, defense maybe a low B; offense, D is probably too high and clearly that hurt the most. 1-6 were 11-50. TK and Sorrell accounted for 7 of those hits, meaning the 4 were had 4 combined in 43 ABs. Woof. Even with all of that, we still manage to be within a play or two all 3 games. Timely hit here, better play on defense there, etc...

Sigh. Anyway, close doesn't count and there's not a thing we can do about it now.

Must have 5 (maybe?) or 6 (preferably) of the remaining 9 SEC games or we get an early summer without Aggie baseball in June, which would be the absolute worst.

Game of the day is the nightcap. After the 3 game sweep in Eugene this weekend Oregon returns the favor and heads to to Corvallis for a Tuesday game vs Oregon State.

I've asked this before and don't remember the answer...but what has happened to Tech? They're now 10 games under .500 overall and a game below .500 in the Big 12. They've had some good (won series vs. Arizona and Baylor), but they've had some awful (losses to San Diego, New Mexico, swept by Grand Canyon.) Have they had injuries? Is all of their NIL money going to football, softball, and basketball? Did Tadlock suddenly forget how to coach? I know they haven't exactly been powerful, but they've been better than this.

After last night's road win Oregon is up to 29 in the RPI. Just not sure they're going to have the juice to host which is crazy given Oregon State probably will and they just swept a 4 game set from the Beavs. Big 10 schedule is killing them.

I'm going to quote myself here...but what has happened to Tech? I know UTRGV isn't terrible, but to lose both games AT HOME to them in the midweek is awful. They've dropped to 68 in the RPI and are hitting the road to Big 12-leading WVU this weekend. Again...I know Tadlock didn't suddenly forget how to coach, but do you think he regrets signing that "lifetime" contract a few years back? I'm thinking that dude...with the right NIL commitment...could build a powerhouse program. Maybe in...say...College Station a year from now if things don't improve at Olsen? Just spit-balling here...but you see where I'm going with this...

My memory is fuzzy because of all the stuff we were dealing with last summer but I feel like they lost a lot to the portal.

They did lose talent. Here's an article detailing all they lost:

But it's not like they were great last season. 12-17 in the Big 12 and missed making a regional. They're like last season but sans whatever talent they had. Amusingly they're better in Big 12 play (10-11) but worse overall this year.

Wayne Graham retired at Rice after one season of not making a regional following decades of postseason play, but I guess Tim is a little young for that.

Tech's non-conference weekends were:

3 at #9 RPI North Carolina
3 vs. #11 UC-Irvine in Lubbock
3 at Las Vegas tournament vs. #83 Illinois, #1 Texas, and #80 Washington
3 at #86 Grand Canyon

They only went 2-10 in those games, beating Irvine once and Illinois. Their mid-week games were pretty typical.

2 vs. #185 UC-San Diego in Lubbock
1 vs. #221 Tarleton State in Lubbock
1 vs. #22 Oklahoma in Frisco
1 at #117 New Mexico
1 at #190 Abilene Christian
2 vs. #32 UT-RGV in Lubbock
1 vs. #155 New Mexico State and 1 vs. #117 New Mexico in Lubbock next week

Tech won both vs. UC-SD, beat Tarleton, lost to OU, lost at New Mexico, won at ACU, and lost both games at home to UT-RGV. The do have a home game vs. Abilene Christian that was postponed due to weather, but I am guessing that game won't be made up. And unless I'm missing something, if they don't make up the ACU game, Tech will only end up playing 52 games.
