He's yet to pitch against a good team, but it does look like he's made great strides from last year to now.

His ability to come in during a high pressure situation and get us out has been great to see!

He made me a believer last year when Earley trusted him enough to put him in during our comeback against South Carolina

I think Arizona State qualifies as "good", he hasn't pitched against an elite team yet.

He also looked really good against our starters in the open scrimmage the Saturday before the season. As someone who cringed every time he came in last year, I'm very impressed with the turnaround (that arguably started last May).

I don't know if ASU is good or not. They seem like a team that can "Big 12" their way into a regional by getting to a gaudy overall record without actually beating any great teams. Granted, they're better than Tennessee Tech, Penn, and Oakland, but they don't strike me as a team that could finish any higher than about 12th or 13th in the SEC.

Yeah, I don't mean to play the semantics game but I guess that's about where I would draw the line between "good" and "great/elite". Their offense is more than capable of exploding, though.

Still a lot to prove but early returns are very promising.

Why? Why do feel the need to make passive aggressive statements. I truly don't get it sometimes. I know your momma told you, "if you can't say something nice, don't say nothin' at all"

And if she didn't, she should have

I clearly said he's made great strides - which is a compliment.

I also stated a fact saying we haven't seen what he can do against good teams (i.e. - SEC caliber opponents.) I'm sure he'll do fine. Or maybe he won't. Who knows? We'll see in due time.

Look...after last season's debacle, no one has earned any "benefit of the doubt". Not the returning players, not the transfers or freshmen (we just don't know much about them yet), and certainly not the coaches. This year could turn out great. Or mediocre. Or a train wreck.

Anyway, what we do know is that through 11 games...roughly 20% of the season...we have played one really good team and we got blasted. We have played one pretty good team and won comfortably. We have played 9 bad or below average teams and have oscillated between run-rule wins and having to twice walk-off an Ivy League team. And a week and a half from now we won't know much more about this team or any individual player. My guess is the 5 upcoming games vs. UIW, Oakland, and SFA won't really tell us a lot about much of anything.

At this point in the season last year we were 6-4 with losses to Cal Poly, Tx St, Arizona, and Oklahoma St. with losses to UTSA and NM St on the horizon the first full week of March. Just for some perspective.

So the fact we've thus far taken care of business in all but the game vs #1 UCLA says something in and of itself.

I'm not of the mind that 2025 should be the benchmark anything is compared to. The benchmark should always be seasons where we have met or exceeded our goals.

He has surprised me this year. Was a single inning pitcher last year and then tended to lose control.

You can tell he worked on things during the offseason.

That's great, but its the datapoint we have in Earley's tenure, so now all we can do is take the info so far this year and see which way we are trending. And for now the data is clear we are trending up compared to last year.

Last year we would've been in the tourney had we just taken care of business down the stretch but failed to do so. This year we have handled business against the teams we should so far.

It's the only data point we have in Earley's tenure but it isn't the only data point we have from the program. Last season wasn't acceptable and we should expect more than what we got, regardless of whom is leading it.

He was really good at the end of last year against SEC Opponents. He threw 3 innings of no hit ball against LSU to give us a chance in the SEC Tournament
