With 4 series to play, all against ranked teams, what's everyone's expectation?

My thought is win half the games and we are golden.

How do we match up with the opponents? I don't really follow the other teams.

Expect Florida to give us the most trouble.

Generally speaking, the pitching is going to get a lot better, but we're not gonna see offenses as good as GA, sips, or OU (or even LSU potentially).

I think go 2-2 and we're a top 8 seed lock. 3-1 and better makes us a top 5 seed. 0-4 is the only way we don't host a regional.

I'll take us to go 3-1and predict the losing series to be Ole Miss (if we go 2-2, next toughest will be @Florida).

I imagine it is somewhat rare for an SEC team with 18 wins to not be a top 8 seed. I think 6-6 in the final 12 sec games gives us a top 8 seed. Not really any bad "losses" left.

Don't forget 18-11 would be different than the normal 18-12, in a good way

I think 7-5 should pretty much lock up a top 8 seed.

I know Auburn and Florida pitching are supposed to be better. Florida, however, has flaws and has been terribly inconsistent.

Mississippi State is a good team, but also has shown signs of inconsistency.

I expect us to play like us, see the t.u. weekend. As long as we take care of the defensive side of the ball and don't shoot ourselves in the foot, I expect us to win 3 of the remaining series.

Based on recent performance, I'd say Florida is the most inconsistent of the four. Ole Miss is probably, on paper, the toughest team.

I'd say Miss St losing 6 straight sec home games is the one with huge question marks. They did get S Carolina at the right time to get them on track though.

Winning any away series is tough. UF is very inconsistent. The Ole Miss series will be very difficult. We need to win our home series and avoid away sweeps. If we can steal the away series, then great! If we can sweep a home series, great!

Doesn't seem to apply that well to us this year. We have swept away series at Mizzou and LSU but lost a home series to Georgia.

Those aren't aborations. UGA is a really good team. LSU is a dogcrap team this year. Those series went about what I expected.

Nobody wants to hear me about LSU.

Florida has been hot and cold this year. Never know what to expect from them.

Their 2 best relievers are out, we need to get into their bullpen. Peterson/King will be tough, but they haven't seen our bats. Yes, they did a pretty good job vs UGA but I'll still take our lineup.

1st series - check!
Looking at it more closely, I think 7-5 gets us that Top 8 seed. 9-3 would be an unreal finish.

6-3 would put us fringe Top4 (depending on what others do). 5-4 should be as lock Top 8. 4-5 is iffy.

Current RPIs for our remaining opponts are 8, 9 (road) and 16.

Edit: and can't go pulling am LSU and lose to #302 Prairie View, etc

4-5 would probably get it done since the Ags won the series at Florida plus the series win over t.u.

that would be an 18-11 conference mark

with another quality series win over Auburn, Ole Miss, or State on the resume

I'm not disagreeing with you but If we win 4 of the next 9 putting us at 18-11 and probably a top 4 finish in the SEC I would be very interested to see 8 teams with better resumes than ours and the committee lock us out.

I personally think 18 is plenty and could even see a world where 17 gets you the last top 8 slot. If we snag 2 @ole miss and win 1 against Auburn and miss state I think that might be enough

But it's also hard to speculate 3 weeks out what everyone else nationally is going to do

I just don't care for recency bias. If we only win 1 each against Ole Miss and MSU, I think it will hurt us since it would make it appear we are limping into the post season.

Let's just stick with 2-1, 1-2, and 2-1 these next three weekends. 19 SEC wins should get a Top8 seed.

After last years bed sh*tting against Mizzou, nothing is a no brainer, and every series is a toss up

Unless they just really crap the bed you've got:

1. UCLA
2. UNC
3. Georgia Tech
4. Georgia
5. texas
6. Auburn
7. Oregon St

....so if you finish meekly that leaves you fighting with Ole Miss, Coastal, potentially even USC or FSU for the 8th spot.

That puts you in the 8-12 range at which point his you finished could play a role.

This was a big road series win. We can now check that box that we won a big series on the road. I see virtually no chance of us not hosting regionals. 18-11 and most likely a top 8 national seed and top 3 SEC conference record
