Coronavirus. An interview with Dr. Chris Centeno. Is Coronavirus serious? Yes. The question is not whether it is serious, or not serious. The question is, how serious it is? How contagious is it and, if one is infected, what can be expected? How concerned should we be, and what precautions should we take. This interview discusses the facts with an MD practicing in this area of medicine.

It's a good listen after you get past the absurdly long commercials...Here's what I got from the interview

The panic doesn't match the threat. While serious, it's not as bad as we think.

The cruise ship was a very good case study. It is literally a worst case scenario for an infectious virus. It started in Wuhan, on average the cruise ship population is 10 years older than the US population, after 30 days 17% of the population contracted it, should have been closer to 40% given the population and environment.

It aerosols just like the flu, and lives for about the same amount of time outside of a host. Heat does kill it, very similar to flu, the upcoming warmer months will be our biggest asset. There's never a good time for this, but the US got it at about as good of timing as we could of hoped.

Post mortem analysis of the first 100+ deaths in Italy revealed 2/3rds of them had at least 2 critical illnesses

Practice social distancing

Don't be afraid of cardboard box shipments from China, virus doesn't live that long.

Stem cell treatment shows early promise as effective treatment. Tells of elderly woman in Wuhan on her death bed, last resort treatment of stem cell injection, was better and walking around three days later. Regulations in America make this an unlikely realistic avenue.

If we get a grip on this early we'll be fine.

So Dr. Chris Centeno appears to be a pain specialist? Why would his advice be worth more than whats coming from epidemiologists?

Thats like asking advise from a dentist or dermatologist

Lol, Chris Centeno is a quack, snake oil salesman that purports ridiculous claims regarding stem cell therapy who is now trying to capitalize on this pandemic. If stem cell therapy worked for all the conditions he claimed, it'd already be widely used. Lets not give this guy any additional publicity.

You realize how much they smoke in both those countries? It's like a 1970's-1980's era bowling alley.

From what I read, this virus hits smokers and others with breathing ailments particularly hard.

Glad I quit 17 years ago.

Chinese smoke like chimneys too. Shouldn't their mortality rates be as high as italy then?

Doesn't the fact that the countries that have the biggest problems also have socialized medicine and that curing everyone is not always the goal ... sometimes you have to send grandma home with a pain pill instead. And guess who the target audience is for the COVID-19 virus.

From the Italian numbers ... At age 60 it get bad, at 70+ is gets pretty bleak.
