So what should people do about planned weddings?

I have a nephews wedding coming up in 3-4 weeks, can they make their own decisions?

Depends on the city & size of the crowd. The venue may end up making the call for them at the end of the day.

Dealing with this question too. Our wedding is 4/11, however it's small and in an indoor/outdoor venue with plenty of room to spread out. I would be sure to have wipes and hand sanitizers on tables. I've already asked several of my more immune compromised friends and they aren't too concerned yet. Lots to think about.

yeah tough call, I guess if the venue lets you continue then will all the guest feel comfortable and show up? if things are still crazy, I would think a lot of guest just decide to not show up.

not the ideal situation no matter how you look at it

Besides all of the risks, this doesn't seem like a conducive environment for people to relax and celebrate. I'm supposed to be in a wedding in a few weeks and it doesn't look like the bride and groom are yet willing to postpone. I'm just thinking about all of the 65+ relatives traveling from out of state and it just seems like a bad idea, especially if the venue will rebook. But not everyone's on board with this being a big deal yet.

If you were getting married would you postpone getting married for this? I wouldnt. I would just accept and expect much lighter attendance.

if your wedding is in may/june, I highly suggesting having your bride check on her dress order. many salons experienced a whole lot of shipment delays. they pad the quoted delivery usually, so you are probably fine, but I would check.

I'm aware of a banquet in April at a hotel ballroom in Houston that was canceled on them by the hotel.

I am getting married on Friday and we are not going to postpone. We have a very limited guest list, and have reached out to everyone letting them know to not come if they do not feel safe around others. We will just accept a smaller attendance if this is the case.

My son's wedding was scheduled for 4/18. After the CDC announcement today, they plan to meet with the venue tomorrow to discuss rescheduling it. Then they'll contact the florist, etc.

Then we'll begin the fun task of contacting all the invitees to let them know.

My fiance and I have our destination wedding in Hawaii 4/16 - not sure what to do but for now we're waiting until last possible moment when we have to postpone to make a call. Just don't want to overreact and cancel/postpone when we don't have to but so many unknowns where we sit today.

But hard to know when to postpone to at this point. We waited a year to get married so she could finish med school in early March 2020 - not looking forward to another long extension; just excited to be married already!

Our last wedding shower was this weekend and we just cancelled the event. She's taking it pretty hard, not finding a lot of positivity out there to point to at this point.

Pray for us TexAgs.

I don't know anyone getting married until October, but that was an informative read. Thank you.

Go down to the courthouse and get married. Get your money back from the vendors and venues. Stay safe and don't worry about a fancy party until the danger has past. When things are back to normal, have the wedding you wanted when everyone will be in the mood to celebrate. Don't risk exposure

My wedding is currently scheduled for 5/16, so exactly 8 weeks out. I know it's 1st world problems but this sucks big time.

I think that is a perfectly reasonable thing to be upset/worried about. dont let people trivialize your life.

PM me the same thing Swarely asked for, and I'll try to do the same.

Also, if you're in Houston, I'm licensed and I'd be happy to help you out. Good Aggie discount of free, too. Goes for anyone else in the same situation.

Ours is scheduled for May 2, so toward the end of the 8 week period.

Definitely not making any decisions until we're a few more weeks down the road, but not a fun situation.

Praying for each and every one of you other couples in a similar situation, if any of you want to/think it would be therapeutic to just chat, pray, or vent it out with someone going through it too, please feel free to reach out to me. Email is my TexAgs Username at yahoo.

Weddings are a really tough one in all this mess, IMO.

But the bold above is why it's so important. Everyone has this can't happen to me attitude. Everyone continuing to carry on, business as usual, is what can cause this to get out of hand.

Headed to a wedding in Conroe on Friday. Hope it goes on as planned. We were also at a wedding a little over a week ago with several out of state visitors. No sickness that we have heard of from anyone in attendance.

Other than the wedding this week we have been and will be staying home as much as possible.

My wedding is in mid August. Mildly concerned, but if we're still dealing with this in August there's probably much more serious things to be worried about.

Yep, exactly. We get it, and everything emerging the last 24 hours has really redefined our next steps. I also hate that I feel guilty for being sad about canceling. I know we are just a blip in the world, but this is not fun.
