There is a rail road across the highway from the ranch. I have noticed a slowdown in the number of trains within the last three days, FWIW.
25% decrease in container traffic into Long Beach and Los Angeles. It will take some time, but container traffic -> trains -> trucks.

Just the opposite for me. It seems like there are extra trains running here.
Have a friend who runs a truck stop. I'll call him tomorrow to see if he's seen a change in traffic the last few days.Thriller said:

His truck stop is on 79 which has a ton of truck traffic. So if he's noticed a down tick in his fuel sales for his 18 wheeler traffic, that would be an indicator. And not a good one.Johnny2Fan said:

I'll be interested to watch the effect on barge/ Towboat traffic in the morning. We push ALOT of grain and liquid barges. If the supply chain to docks is disrupted, we will not have product to move.

If it's a Union Pacific rail, they were laying off folks weeks before this. I know this because a lib friend on the Facebook works for UP and blasted FB about Trump's economy.
My brother drove OTR for 20 some years and now drives a regular route for a dairy company. I run the back office for a small brokerage. I can tell you the drivers for the most part are some of the best folks you'll ever get to interact with. I couldn't do their job. They make a lot of sacrifices to keep stuff moving
I work for a trucking company. Saw an email the other day that HEB was requesting 30 trucks in Houston and 30 in San Antonio that they wanted to work the next 30 days. They usually use mostly their own trucks.
Fully support the OTR truckers out there (who are generally quite tolerant of the cars on the highway but the occasional 5 minute pass drives me nuts), but wish our highways had fewer of them at the same time.
An efficient rail network would keep the need for them down, vs. the massive quantities on I-30/35/45/10.

Was just at loves this morning and the lady at the commercial counter said they have been stupid busy with about double the traffic the last week.

Has nothing to do with his economy and more to do with UP is in the process of closing a lot of their smaller defunct yards across the country and laying those people off if they won't accept a transfer to other locations. My dads company that he is CEO of has a ton of contracts with UP and they've been discussing this going back to October.
Was just coming to post. He too has seen an uptick in fuel sales. Also, the trains were running early this morning and have heard several pass by so far this morning.
