Interesting note from the article:
Quote:

"It's bad. It's bad," the president said at a news conference after releasing guidelines that called for people to avoid gathering in groups of more than 10 people and to steer clear of eating and drinking at bars, restaurants and food courts.

The guidelines including a strict recommendation that anyone with even minor symptoms stay home are not mandatory. But they were issued with a sense of alarm and a frankness that Trump has not previously displayed.

Although I hoped for Trump to have done this much earlier, it's definitely better late than never. I think it's safe to say that we must all follow this advice and avoid going to restaurants and bars as the article states also.

As the president says,
Quote:

"If everyone makes this change or these critical changes and sacrifices now, we will rally together as one nation, and we will defeat the virus, and we're going to have a big celebration altogether. With several weeks of focused action, we can turn the corner and turn it quickly."
Stay safe, everyone.

Much stronger language from Trump. I hope people listen and follow directions.

Hopefully the 'this is an overreaction, how is this different than the typical flu season?' segment of the population has gradually woken up over the past week that this isn't the typical flu season.

How risky is the pickup from restaurants then? Many seem to be going to that or are being forced to.

Fairly safe I would think, seems like most places are making an effort to keep sick employees home and not sitting in a dining room greatly reduces person to person contact.

It's also a great time to pick up a gift card from your favorite local spot to help them out, then use it later when things return to normal.

I was never in the camp of it just being the flu. However, I don't think we will know for sure if it's really that much worse unless and until the hospitals are over capacity with people on ventilators or otherwise in critical condition. I've been hearing for the last week this is going to happen, but it hasn't happened yet. If it does, then it's obviously a major problem compared to the flu.

I was unimpressed with his attitude overall. I did not see the urgency. Maybe he is more serious than he has been, but how can you think we would be any different than Italy? Damn, we are a cocky nation.

We should know in a week or two I guess.

I think this is all way overboard, but we shouldn't have to wait long to know. Especially with the UK taking the opposite approach.

it was only 7 days ago our President himself was tweeting that out. Crazy that 7 days ago he tweeted there was only 546 cases and today we had 983 NEW CASES and counting.

Actually testing people for a virus that probably vectored out of China for a month or more before they even discovered it will do that...
